Summer Night
By MoonGlw123

twilight comes,
signaling the day is done
twinkling fireflies
dancing lazily in the garden
sweet smell of fresh cut grass
rides the breeze
sky turning pink as the sun
slips past the horizon
the humming of crickets
as they welcome the night
hazy starlight filters
through the skies
infinite canopy
sitting barefoot and dreaming
on the backporsh swing
freshly scrubbed children
run happily
in the shadows
my gentle knight
placing worn hands
on my shoulders
tender kisses so well known
to the top of my head
the night so welcome
ushers in quiet reverie
