~A Selenite Rose~
By Mara1121
I have no silken petals to offer
Nor a resting place for morning dew
There's nothing on this stone surface
to hint of softness underneath to you
I have no need of thorns to guard
from grasping hands which seek my bloom
but for this impenetrable exterior
I have sacrificed sweet perfume.
~
You cannot see the beauty hidden
in this heart encased in salt-edged stone -
solitary, hard rosette
Who has been, too long, alone.
But if you hold this crystal rose
within the warm hollow of your hand
Shower it with truth and love
I'll melt back into sand.
~
My heart is there for you to see
through transluscent crystal, clear
past this monolithic fortress built
to shield from that I fear.
What would it be worth to you
to open these briny folds to pain?
And what would be the cost to me
To dissolve into your rain?
