Lorraine's power can control electricity through something which she call internal electrokenisis. The only true telepathy she has is with Rogue and their bond, mentioned further down in this bio. She can read another person's bio-electical signature through touch. Mutants have a stronger electrical pulse then humans. Lorraine can also fly and has super strength that is a match for Rogue's. Recently, with help from the X-men and Xaiver, Lorraine has some how "evolved" further to where her control over electricity is almost infinite. But now Prof.Xaiver and many other people at the mansion fear that Lorraine could possibly become Omega Level. They have no idea what ramifications would come from her becoming Omega. When she first began she could only shoot powerful bolts of electricity, now she can pulls in the elecrticity from around her and create an even more powerful blast triple the blast of lightning.
Now, Lorraine is experimenting with a physical, emotional link with Rogue(mentioned above). When Rogue tried to absorb Lorraine's powers, it backfired and Rogue gave Lorraine her bio-electrical siganture permanently. The link is both a blessing and a curse as they both feel and know what each other think and feel.
Lorraine now resides at Xaiver's school for the gifted, but she frequently gets homesick and returns to Catainya. This can get Lorraine in a lot of trouble. Lorraine was a rebel against the dictator the Devient. The man lived by Hitler's law, except that anyone with the mutant gene should be killed. This created a war with mutant genocide. The war had ended now too long ago and only lasted for two years. Even though Humans and Mutants live together peacefully, there are still renagade troops of The Devient army running around.
Lorraine is an Amazon, a tribe of elite warrior women. She isn't as many people would think an Amazon is. She doesn't hate men, nor does she want them all to die. She's an Amazonian priestess, she deals with peace-keeping and worship. About twelve years before Lorraine arrived, missionaries converted some the amazons in to Christianity, though Lorraine herself is not Christian. The priestess hood taught Lorraine many things. First she was taught philosophy and then religion. The convent taught her all the things she'd learn in colleges, physics, science, art, foreign language, ect. (Magic was one of Lorraine's fortes and has begin a collection of books, scrolls and texts on many magical arts. Many of the written magick dates back thousands of years.) There she became highly educated knowing more then twenty languages. Lorraine always had an artistic flare. She loves to draw and no longer writes her own music. She also had an alternative/heavy metal band called "Alternia," and Lorraine was lead singer and lead guitar, but they have broken up and all for the better. She also did a Catainian centerfold pin up for a bikini magazine. Lorraine has stepped out of the lime-light disliking the attention it brough her.
Lorraine oddly looks more like Rogue than she does Ororo. Her skin is darker than Rogue's and she has less white in her hair. She is a bit taller then Rogue, but shorter then Ororo. She also has two matching tattooes on her upper arms near her shoulders. The tattoos are red tribal suns. This is her Amazon tribe Occultia. Her eyes are strange as well. They are green, but with out pupils and tend to glow in the dark from inner electricity.
Lorraine's relationship with her sister, though rocky in the begining has become strong. She loves her sister dearly, as much as she loves her friend Rogue, perhaps more. Rogue has always encouraged Storm an Shock's relationship. Rogue also, often times, plays match-maker with Lorraine. Rogue treuly has Lorr's best interests at heart and only wants to see her best friend happy with someone. Especially after her apparent marrige to Mister Sinister, though he had mind raped her and had her dellusioned into thinking she was in love with the 'man'. If it weren't for the X-men she'd probably still be with him.
During this time, she was against the x-men and had fought them all, proving herself to be quite a formitable foe. But Rogue saw through this charade, knowing her real friend was still there, she went after her friend to the end of the globe, despite the X-men's advisement to let Lorr be. Rogue is stubborn like that. Eventually, Rogue had won Lorr over, but it may have been too late. Lorraine had given birth to a little girl who she named Oriana Essex, but after realizing that her relationship with Sinister was all a facade, she threw her daughter into a inter-dimensional portal to another world Catainya. Time there moved differntly then it did in the X-men's realm and when Oriana returned, she was grown up. Oriana pocessed a powerful psionic power, through which she could manipulate any organic matter, including human flesh.
Oriana returned angry at her mother for abandoning her and attacked her as well as the other X-men. Defeating them, she kidnapped her mother and brought her to Sinister. Sinister was not at all happy at Lorr for keeping his daughter from him and punished her severly. Soon, the X-men found her and to their horror, she was practically dead at the hands of her ex-husband and daughter. Infuriated, with what had been done to their teammate, they persued Sinister and Oriana, who had taken the name of Materia. A horrible battle came about as Sinister, Materia and his goons fought the X-men. The X-men were victorious, but Logan was poised to kill Oriana, his claws aimed at her head. He stopped himself and explained to her why her mother did what she had to do, he told her what Essex would have done to her if he had gotten to her and that Lorraine felt she was uncapable of protecting her daughter. Materia, horrified with the truth threw Wolverine from her and commited suicide to gain her honor back. A very typical amazon manuver since more then likely she too was raised by amazons in the other world Catainya.
Though the x-men tried to stop her they couldn't. Logan was riddled with guilt and anger. He dreded having to tell Lorraine that her daughter was dead. The X-men returned to a worry frought Lorr and a concerned Professor. Logan took Lorr aside, and out to dinner before breaking the news to her later that night in her room. She didn't take it well at all, and Rogue felt doubly horrible because of the link between them. Lorraine fell into a deep depression, rarely leaving her room and when she did..."She looks like a ghost," comments Kitty Pryde. Logan did his best to console her, as well as did Storm, Gambit, and Nightcrawler (who had become quite fond of Lorr in earlier months). Eventually, Professor was the only one who could bring Lorr from her depression, through lots of therapy and gentle mental stroking (for lack of a better word) She came through.
Though her depression had been hard on Rogue as well, who in those months had left no one in the house unsnapped at. But when Lorr returned to the world of the living Rogue began to feel better herself, despite lingering feelings of guilt. Rogue partially blames herself for all of this, though Lorr tries to convince her otherwise. Logan and Lorr have started up their relationship again. (*side note*But unbeknownst to anyone, essex has cloned his daughter, in a pitiful attempt of having his daughter back again. Unfortunately, because of Materia's unstable matter, the clones do not live very long and he continues to toil and experiment to get past this minor set back.)
On a trip to Catainya, Lorraine met a man who she instantly fell for. After a short courtship, they were wed. Much to everyone else horror at Lorr's brash and impetuous behavior. Not convinced by anyone she was making a mistake, she moves back to Catainya with her knew husband. Not long after, Lorr bares a child, a girl named Christine (after her adoptive mother). A year later, she has another child, a girl as well. She named this one Jasmine. The finally, three years after that, she has a son, Brian. Brian was the most obviously mutated, being born with solid black eyes and snow white hair.
Her husband, James Marshel Wolffe, AKA Jimmy, took a job in the city at a chemical plant. Unbeknownst to anyone but the owners and researchers, any of these chemicals had side effects. Especially with extreme exposure. As fate would have it, Devieant Terrorist attack the plant for hiring mutant to work there. The blow it up with James caught in the middle. He's doused with high levels of experimental military chemicals and changes begin. His muscle mass doubles as his genetic structure breaks down and rearranges itself. He soon becomes stronger theh Juggarnaut and Gladiator combined. But, the chemical causes his mind to snap, completely stuck in what is now called the Hyde Syndrome. He became a malevolent, sadist, killing machine, quite a change from the soft spoken and gentle James. Going on muddled and fuxxy memories, he returns home. Now, everyone knows that Lorraine has a vast Catainian family of brothers, sister, cousins, uncles, and so on. Her sister had been baby sitting that night while Lorraine was off working at her Brother's resturant. Her sister, Kotia, had just put the children to bed when James had snuck into the house. Going to his bedroom and mistaking Kotia for his wife, he bludgeons her to death with his fists. It was a rather quiet affair as one blow to the head from his fist silenced and killed her.
Remembering that Brian had horrible night terrors, so bad that they had to sound proof his room, he went there first. He kills his three year old baby boy in his own bed, tearing him in half. His screams of terror and James revealing his plan to the corpse was all caught on a baby monitor placed in the room. lorraine did that so she could always hear him and run to his aid. But for the doctor, she had the baby monitor hooked up to a tape recorder.
Christine, being a light sleeper, heard bumps and knocks. Finding this quite frightening, she slipped from her bed and went to hide in her closet behind old teddy bears and a sleeping bag. James moved to Jasmine's room, waking her before brutally slamming her frail tiny body into the floor...killing her instantly. Christine gripped her hands over her mouth to keep from screaming, being able to hear her sister's death quite clearly. She knew this thing was coming for her next, but frozen with terror she dared not move. James staggers into his last daughter's bedroom, not finding her in bed he beings screaming for her, deciding to search the house first before the bedroom. Christine panicks and flees her bedroom via the window and the fire escape ladder they gave her to her for emergencies. She figured this was an emergency. As Christine ran down the driveway, she was met first by the headlights of Lorraine's car and then met by her father. Screaming in horror as she looked upon the bloody hands of her father she tries to run, but James catches her first.
"Why are you running from Daddy, Christine?" James Taunts her. Christine falters back from him, mustering what little courage she has and defiantly puffs up her chest, standing firm before him.
"You're not my father!" she screams. Infuriated, James knocks her a few good feet, seriously injuring her. A horrified Lorraine, runs up and scoops her child away from James, taking to the air with her. Protecting her child, she releases an assault of super lightning upon James before flying into the house via an open window. She races Christine to the basement where Lorraine kept all her computers and such. Christine agrees to being "downloaded" into a computer system that she had been working on with her mother. The system is a self evolve and self upgrading sentient type program. In other words, Artifical intelligence...all it needed was inteligence. Lorraine does so just before the fatal wound to Christine snuffs out her light. Grief stricken and vengful, she burst through the basement ceiling to meet James for a brawl of a lifetime.
In the struggle, Lorraine's old communicator was activated. Storm was the first to pick, having been the one who gave it to her...just in case. Hoping to hear her sister's voice, she was dismayed to hear Lorraine screaming and eventually begging for her life. Lorraine realized all to late that she was no match for James superior strength and brutality alone. Without thinking, Storm set up the alarm throughout the mansion. She was so shaken by what she heard she could not speak, exccept played what had transpired over the loud speaker. Storm soon found many rallying to go get Lorraine. They all prayed they would arrive in time.
The fight was short lived. Believing he had killed his wife, her left her where she lied and began to set fire to the house. He fled just before the X-jet landed outside. Storm was the first to emerge and called upon torrent rains to put out the fire. THe x-men with her included, Logan, Nightcrawler, Rogue, Gambit, Shadowcat, Collosus, and a few others. They fanned out and searched the house only to find the night's terror bloodilydisplayed out before them in each other room. Finally, it's Kurt that finds Lorraine, barely alive and comatose. He whisks her off to the jet, but only Rogue lingers behind for a moment looking upon all the computers and Christine's body. Being able to barely read Lorraine's ind she figures out that Christine is in the computer systems. Rogue carefully dismantles the systes and has the others help her bring them on the ship. A distraught Storm chides Rogue for saving computers, but Rogue quickly explains why, shutting the woman up.
It was a quite and sad trip back to the mansion and Lorraine spent two months in a coma. Storm never left her side, not even to eat or sleep. Even though Kurt tried to persaude her to do so, she just had her meals brought up and slept in the bed next to her sister.
During this time, the mental bond between Rogue and Lorraine begins to break up and Rogue fears that Lorraine's mind might be deteriorating in the coma. Rogue brings this up just as Lorraine opens her eyes and speaks for the first time.
"Water," she begs. Strom turns on her heels and rushes for her sister.
"I'll bring you all the water in the world if you'll say that again."
Everyone is overjoyed that Lorraine is awake and mentally stable, dispite what had occured. Though her mental stability isn;t proved, lately she's been rather depressed and not much like herself. Consequently, the mental bond between Rogue and Shock is lost. Fortunately for Rogue as she starts to notice Lorraine some what suicidal behavior. Lorraine first satrted with giving up most of her things, save for the computers...where she toiled to get back to working order in some flase hope that she would be able to get her baby back. When trial after trail fails, she falls deeper and deeper into depression. She stopped speaking, eating or sleeping, no more fighting, no more jokes, no more anything. She was completely lackluster. Many tried to speak with her but were fastly assaulted by her infamous double bladed togue that could cut deeper then any sword.
Then her first attempt on her life was made. Logan was bringing her dinner and smelled blood outside her door, kicking it open, he rushed to the bathroom to find that she was lying in a massive pool of her own blood. The wounds kept open and from healing with toothpicks she kept from her sandwich that afternoon. Logan snatches her up, pulls out the toothpicks.
"Why are you doing this!? It's not worth it Lorraine! You can't die!" he tries to reason with her.
"Everything I love....is...always...taken...from me..." She mutters back in a weak tone. It was the most loaded statement he's ever heard in his life. Deciding not to argue with her, he rushes her down to the med center to get fixed up. Deciding it was better for her, they keep her in restraints until she was healthy enough to speak with the professor. But they underestimate her tenacity. As the past few nights went smoothly, many let their guard down, until one night when the alarm on the vital monitor goes off. THe nurses rush in to find that Lorraine had bitten her tongue in two and spit it across the room. She held the wound open with her teeth. The nurses then call Beast in to help sew it back on and hold her mouth open to keep her from biting them. She spent even more time under restraints, thing time with her jaw sewn shut with braces and wires. They force fed her through and straw and forced everything on her...this left Storm wondering if they were doing the right thing or should just respect her wishes to die. The next night, Strom sneaks in and unwires her mouth.
"Don't bite your tongue off, just speak to me. Tell me why you want to die so badly. This isn't the sister I know. The one I knew thristed for life, fought for it, loved to live life. This one is trying so desperately to shed her mortal coil for what? To meet your chidlren in paradise? Thats against your beliefs...a selfish suicide is unhonorable and will be punished. Only an hornorable self sacrafice will be honored with paradise," she says to wait before sitting back and waiting for her response. (Paradise is the Amazon heaven...like the Ellysian fields.)
"There's no arguing in that sister. This isn't the girl you knew, I used to love life, before life dealt me a shit hand. I'm tired of suffering, I'm tired of being tormented by my dreams and ceasless thoughts off all my baby's deaths and all my loves taken from me," with that said, her dull eyes drift toward the doorway where a mysterious evasdropper stood. "Like the one who stands there, but don't feel guilty Ororo, you didn't know."
The shadow by the doorway suddenly disappears in a flash and Lorraine breaks down into tears nearing the point of hysterical.
"I'm just so tired of hurting!" she screams, pulling against her adamantium enforced restraints. "I know it's horrible that I want to die and I know how selfish it is. But, I can't get the computers to hook up right, I can;t bring Christine back...She's in the computers. I downlaoded her inteligence, her personality, her soul, into the AI programming. She just waiting for me, but sooo many of the components are water logged and I can't get new ones without risking losing my baby...What's worse is James is still out there commiting murders all over the US. I've been following him through the news. He'll arrive in a town, kill and leave."
"Wait, I thought he died in the fire."
"No, he must have heard you all coming, he stopped mid stroke, blew me a kiss and ran off."
"You think he'll come after you?" Storm inquired with great concern.
"Does a bear shit in the woods?"
With that, Storm made Lorraine promise that she would no longer take attempts on her life. Storm released her sister and began work with her on fixing the computers to bring up Christine. A few people protested this, stating she was unstable, but were silenced by Storm. After a few days, they were able to get Christine up and running and storm was simply amazed by her sister and neice's engineering. Soon, Christine began to build herself, hiding her components behid the drywall, removing insulation and such. Within a weeks time, Christine, now knows as BLIP, was fully functional with a holographic display, surround sound, her own enertainment...the internet and the schools computers. She even has lovely converstaions with the Danger room which is a now sentient being enslaved by the Professor. (See Astonishing X-men) With hristine's aid, Lorraine is able to track james movement much easier now. BLIP is a multi-purpose AI and the full extent of her power is not yet fully realized though she yearns for a body of her own again so she can hug her Mommy.
Slowly, Lorraine returns to her old self as she starts by helping Kurt prank others, draws with Peter, gardens with Storm, kicks Iceman's ass at Grand turismo on Blip dispite Iceman's constant complaint that BLIP is helping her win. But most of all, rekindles her friedship with her longtime best friend Rogue. The two decide to Vacation in Paris. They should return soon.
