Background |
Born to parents Michael and Delora, El-Aurian refugees living on Proxima Beta, Jean was schooled both at home and in Proxima schools, with aptitudes noted in science and the arts. He was noted by age four to possess some psi-talents, but his parents declined transfer to an off-world school. They had no desire to see their child transferred to Vulcan or Betazed to receive empathic training. It was their intention to do it themselves.

Service Record |
By age seventeen, AndrusTarus had amassed enough educational credits to apply for admission to Starfleet. His parents disapproved of this decision, but remained supportive through his academy years. Age twenty-one, in his final academy year, Cadet AndrusTarus was posted to a training cruise. While on that training voyage, the Borg attacked Wolf 359, and their vessel--still stationed close to earth--was ordered to defend Sector 001. During the engagement the ship was crippled, his academy classmates were killed, and he suffered a number of injuries before reaching an escape pod. With second and third degree burns over his arms and back, a moderate concussion and his right scapula fractured in three places, he was knocked unconscious as the damaged escape pod burst through the unopened launch port of the doomed starship.
The damaged escape pod failed to activate its emergency beacon or its thrusters. With his bioreadings weak and large amounts of radiation blocking all but the most intense scans, two weeks passed before his lifesigns were located by a salvage vessel. Their captain ignored orders to wait for a starship to take the cadet, and instead returned him straight to the closest planetside hospital on earth. Four months of intensive care and rehabilitation later, Jean AndrusTarus was able to graduate with the few members of his surviving class. He requested and was granted a transfer to Special Operations, and his graduation from Academy to Starfleet Medical was cancelled, his credits sufficient for a promotion to junior officer and assignment with Special Operations Rapid Response. He was nearly courtmartialed for striking a superior officer who made a remark about the Battle of Wolf 359, afterwhich he was entered into mandatory counseling for a period not to exceed five years. He was removed from Special Operations and transferred to a starship.
Jean AndrusTarus was transferred to the USS Endeavor as a junior officer in the medical staff and from there has been promoted to the position of Ship's Counselor. While he still harbors a great deal of hatred for the Borg, he is loyal to the ideals of the Federation and growing more loyal to the Endeavor's captain and his crew. Although he no longer insists on being armed at all times, against regulations, he still nevertheless keeps a melee weapon in his office--his knife from Special Ops.

Other Data |
Although he recorded a number of holodeck hours, the holodeck was less a form of entertainment and more a training tool he used to learn about and try to overcome the Borg. His counselor at Starfleet Medical, a Vulcan, had suggested he develop the program to learn the things "he could not otherwise learn." Shortly after he joined the Endeavor, he deleted the program and has not used the holodeck since.
