An hour away from Columbus, in Roesch Library on the University of Dayton, is the most inspiring, awesome art exhibit of Polish Mother Mary that you will every see. It is called "POLISH MADONNAS in ART and POETRY", by WISLAWA KWIATKOWSKA.The exhibit runs now through Sep. 8th. (info: Jim D.) ( Rumors, July'2005 ) ![]() "Polish Madonnas in Art and Poetry" is a collection of 50 paintings by Wislawa Kwiatkowska from the Diocesan Museum in Plock, Poland. The inspiration for the paintings came from selected texts of Polish poetry. It is important to note that from the earliest beginnings of Polish literature (see: "Bogarodzica", the hymn sung by the knights in the Battle of Grunwald in 1410) to the present day, Polish poetry often is inspired by the Holy Mother. A characteristic of Mrs. Kwiatkowska work is to join the picture, painted on canvas cloth, with the frame, which eliminates the distance between the work and the viewer. The pictures are painted in oil and measure 90 x 75 cm each. by: Danuta Romanowska |
