It was just another typical day in my life as Lance's best friend. The only thing that was different was he told me he was moving to Florida to join a pop group.
But that was four years ago. We were 16 then, now we're 20, and that little pop group he joined is HUGE, and has worldwide success. That's what I was thinking about as I got ready for an appearance at the American Music Award.
I was going to be Lance's date, of course it was a friendly date but I was more than excited. The group he was in, *N Sync had just broken away from there former management and this was there first appearance after winning the lawsuit.
I hated their former Manager Lou Pearlman, he put them through so much and I, just like J.C., could not bring myself to forgive him. He stole their money and endangered their health. He pushed them so hard Lance collapsed on stage and was hospitalized. I had been at that concert and it was the scariest moment of my life.
I was happy that they won and I was even happier that they were performing a new song and that there new album was now underway. A sudden knock on my hotel room door interrupted my thoughts.
"Coming!" I called opening the door. Lance's friendly face welcomed me.
"Gosh, if u take any longer were going to miss the whole thing!" I ignored his sarcastic comment and walked back into the room to finish getting ready. "What are you doing?" He asked following me in as the door closed behind him. He sat down on the hotel bed and stared at Me.
"I'm trying to finish putting my make-up on so you'll stop complaining." I answered as I put on a light coat of lipstick and then covered it with lip gloss.
"You never wear make-up though." He replied meekly. I put my necklace on before answering him.
"I know, but I'm not put in the middle of a hundred celebrities and reporters everyday. I barely put any on anywise. You guys put more on for photo shoots than I put on to go out tonight!" I exclaimed grabbing my purse. "Are you ready?" I asked standing in front of him.
"Yeah!" He said leaping up. "How do I look?" He asked standing in front of me to admire him.
"Very nice!" I exclaimed as he spun around. "How do I look?"
"Gorgeous!" He exclaimed giving me a once over.
He looked at her again, she wasn't the same girl he grew up with. She had changed, not that that was a bad thing, because he did have to admit that she had been looking pretty good lately.
Lately he had been thinking of her in a whole new way, of course he would never act on these feelings though because there was a possibility that if she didn't feel the same way that could ruin their whole friendship. And he wasn't willing to risk that.
He took her arm and led her out into the hall. They walked down the hall together to where the others were waiting.
"Hey Lucy, lookin' good!" Chris said, complimenting her. Joey whistled and a soft blush crept over her face as each of his friends bombarded her with compliments.
"Thanks guys." She said after they finished. "You guys all look lovely yourselves." Lance couldn't help but notice her smile softly at J.C.
For a while J.C. had a crush on her, and she was beginning to seem like she had one on him to. He would always wish her well and he would always wish J.C. well to, but he couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy as they looked at each other that way. He couldn't help but wish she were looking at him instead of J.C.
"Well guys, security is waiting at the elevator. We better get going." Lance said as he took Lucy's arm and led her towards the elevator. Things could get interesting around here he thought, they could get very interesting.
