Chapter 11: Having Fun?

"AHH!" Lindsay screamed as Lance zipped through the water on his jet ski. She clung onto him for dear life.

"Having fun?" Lance yelled back, grinning. He knew that Lindsay had never ridden a jet ski before. He took Lindsay's playful scream as a yes, and turned the jet ski around in a sharp turn.

"Hey, look at that," Sydney told JC, pointing to Lance and Lindsay in the water. They were at a hot dog stand, ordering their food, and she had just seen Lance take a miscalculated turn that caused the both of them toppled into the water.

"Yeah, it's fun falling off." JC answered, grinning at her.

"Really? I wouldn't know, I've never ridden one yet," Sydney said with a shrug.

"Are you kidding?" He asked, shocked.

"Nope." She took a bite of her hot dog. "I'm a little scared of them, too."

"Well come on then," JC said, a devilish look in his eyes, "let's go!" He grabbed her hand and dragged her to the unloading zone for boats.

"Hey," Joey greeted Justin, sitting in the sand next to Justin's beach towel.

"Hi." Justin murmured, enjoying the feel of the sun on his back.

"How come you're here all alone? Couldn't find any hot girls?" Joey asked him.

"I did. I'm just tired right now. Where's everyone else?"

"Well, Lance and Lindsay are riding on his jet ski, and I think Chris is riding his own. JC and Sydney stole mine," He added with a laugh.

"They did?" Justin asked, interested.

"Yep. Look they're out there. Sydney looked terrified," Joey told him, grinning as he remembered the look on her face as JC coaxed her to get on the jet ski with him. Justin turned his gaze from Joey to the water, where he could see everyone riding their jet skiis. He felt extremely annoyed at the familiar pang of jealousy that he felt when he saw JC and Sydney together. They were sharing Joey's jet ski, and JC was going extremely fast. He could see Sydney was enjoying it by the way she was grinning widely.

"Slow down!" Sydney yelled loudly at JC, the roar of the engine blocking her voice.

"What?" JC asked, pretending not to hear her. "You want me to go faster?" He pushed down on the accelerator, making her scream but this time not out of fear.

"Let me drive!" She insisted, and he pulled the jet ski to a stop and they switched.

"You know, Justin looks jealous," JC commented, grinning.

"Whatever," Sydney muttered, not wanting to show her hopefulness. "He'll never like me, JC."

"Hey, you don't know that for sure," JC argued, showing her how to start the engine. "Besides, I know he can be extremely smug, pompous, arrogant -"

"And you forgot egotistical." Sydney piped up.

"Yeah, and that. But he can change, he's a nice guy too." JC said with a shrug, holding onto her tight when the jet ski suddenly shot off.
