Bill Poole's Trip to the
Republic of South Africa
 The trip home.....
Day 23

 Last day in africa

Went into the office for a while, since I had stored some stuff there during my Kruger tour and I needed to check the test equipment one last time.

Got everything packed up, checked out of the hotel, and called my friend.

We went to his house for a late lunch, then to the Military History museum. Turns out the museum closed earlier and was better than expected. I'll go back on my next trip. They had a bunch of guns and military equipment inside and airplanes and tanks etc outside. It is right on the grounds of the zoo.

They drove me around that part of Jo'burg a little, then we went to my friend's wife's parents' house and fed the Guineafowl that have lived on that property since it was a large farm when she was growing up. Since then, it has mostly been sold off to land developers, same problem we have here.

My friend was nice enough to drive me to the airport and off I went. Everyone I met in africa was nice!

Return flight was Jo'burg to Ilha Do Sal in the Cape Verde Islands off the west coast of africa for refueling in the early morning dark. The transit lounge there was shabby. Then to JFK, where a department of agriculture inspector wanted to know what kind of food I was importing (candy) and whether or not I had been on a farm or had any biological material with me. (no).

Then Detroit then Phoenix and home!!!

My luggage made it all they way too!
