Safety Policy
Each child-care staff member in charge of a child or
group of children shall be responsible for their safety
in accordance with the following
- No child shall ever be left alone or unsupervised
- Arrival and departure will occur with a sign-in
and sign-out policy, with children being released
only to registered adults.
- There will be a working telephone at all times
within the building used for child care.
- A monthly fire drill, at varying times each month
will take place. A record of the fire drill will
be maintained at the center.
- A fire emergency and weather alert plan will be
posted in each classroom which explains action to
be taken by staff. A diagram of evacuation routes
will be posted.
- Children will only be transported by staff and
other parents for trips away from the center with
proper restraint in place.
- A staff person trained in first aid who meets the
requirements of rule 5101:2-12-31 of the
Administrative Code shall be available on each
field trip of special outing.
- A water safety plan in accordance with rule 5101:2-12-47
of the Administrative Code will be in place and
available for your review.
- When accident or injury occurs or when any other
incident necessitates administration of syrup of
ipecac in accordance with rule 5101:2-12-51 of
the Administrative Code or the emergency
transportation of a child in accordance with rule
5101:2-12-49 of the Administrative Code, the
center shall complete an incident report in
accordance with rule 5101:2-12-49 of the
Administrative Code.
- Use of spray aerosols shall be prohibited when
children are in attendance at the child day-care
center.
- A child-care staff member shall immediately
notify the local public children services agency
when the child-care staff member suspects that a
child has been abused or neglected.
- All child-care staff members shall receive a copy
of the centers safety policy.
- All parents or guardians of a child enrolled in
the center shall receive this written safety
policy.
