The Danger of Beauty
By: Erin Shirey
Like a lost puppy,
I wandered
Ignoring their warning,
"Don't go near the lake"

Hypnotized by it's serenity,
I lingered
Letting the flowers brush my toes
As I drew closer

Dancing in the warm sun,
I neared
Kicking a rock into the depth
I sat down on the bank

Seeing the flowered cross,
I remembered
My innocent little brother
Too young to realize the danger of beauty.
