If you want to begin a
life in Norway, you will need to obtain a permit of some kind, whether
you are married to a Norwegian resident, find work, or simply want to
live here. If you plan on simply coming to Norway to visit and are not
among the countries with a Tourist Visa wavier you must obtain a Tourist
Visa from the Norwegian government. Comparatively, Norwegian permits and
visas are quite straight forward.
To ensure accurate
residency or travel in Norway research the information, laws and
regulations and always ask questions. Below are some resources on
permits and visas.

Norwegian Directorate of
Immigration. This is your primary source of permit and visa information.
This department conducts and maintains the immigration operations.

If your stay in Norway is only temporary, you may apply for a
D-number, which enables you to open a bank account in Norway.
How do I apply for a work permit?
Contact your local
police station for advice on
application procedures. In Oslo: Grønland politistasjon,
Grønlandsleiret 44, N-0190 Oslo. Tel.: (+47) 22 66 90 50.

Though Norwegian
Permits and Visas are straight forward, there are inconsistencies based
on individual applicants. For example, depending on where you apply for
your permit or visa, determines the length of time it is processed. This
is due to population. To get a more personal understanding and answers
to your questions it is best to join the following Yahoo Groups and get
involved with their chat by emails.
