Germany welcomes East Timor
June 9, 2002
Dear all,
we are organising an event in Cologne/Germany to mark East Timor's independence.
If you would like to join in, you may do so by acting as a co-inviter, (co-)convenor,
co-organiser or as you please. There are no financial or other strings attached.
Our initial ad hoc organising committee:
Asia House/Asia Foundation, German Agro Action, Departmental Students organisations from
the University of Cologne, and the University of Bonn, German Indonesian Society,
Philippines Information Centre, Society for Threatened Peoples International, German East
Timor Society
Amnesty international is due to join.
We expect the Portuguese and the Indonesian ambassadors and
a representative from ET. We invited the State Secretaries of the the German Federal
Ministry For Economic Co-operation and Development and the German Federal Foreign
Office.
The event is due to be staged June 9th.
There will be no entrance fee but donations for an ET'ese NGO are requested. The event
will start at 14.00h and is due to continue till 22.00 h.

Our next open meeting - everyone cordially invited takes place on April 18, 18 h,
Bistro Grüneke, Mauritiussteinweg, Cologne, Germany (right in the Centre of Cologne,
close to the Wolkenburg/ Neumarkt), tram stop Mauritiuskirche (Linies 8 and 9 from
Neumarkt).
