"Possum Holler" was a quaint little retail store nestled in the tall pines, scrub oaks, and low swamps of South Carolina.

If you are traveling from the North take South Carolina Number 9 from South of the Border or South Carolina 9 out of Dillon, SC. If you are north bound on I-95 take the Dillon, SC exit and South Carolina 9 straight into Lake View, South Carolina right to our front door.
History of POSSuM hOLLeR

Possum Holler had a snack bar, ice cream soda fountain, and a large selection of beach souvenirs for adults and children. Some of our most popular items are our large selection of FIREWORKS, our "World Famous Potted Possum", Myrtle Beach and Possum Holler tee shirts, pecan logs, salt water taffy, and fresh pop corn. We serve "Southern Favorite" boiled peanuts and occasionally Cajun HOT peanuts as well as salted and roasted.

In Memory of "Colonel Frank", my Brother.

"Butch" was born Frank Marvin Wating Jr. and nicknamed "Butch", native of Morgantown, WV.
Grew up in Charleston, WV, conceived his elementary schools newspaper,"The Look", and went on to become editor of "The Torch", the junior high newspaper. Won many national art contest and was an honor roll student.
Cincinnati, Ohio had him for college, Parris Island, Okinawa and San Diego had him while in the Marines. LA, Las Vegas, Chicago and Savannah had him awhile he was a childrens television entertainer.
"Colonel Frank" was to discover the wonderful world of retail in South Carolina, where he lived for two decades.

He opened a store and named it "Possum Holler", where he sold fireworks and many other souveniers. He also wrote a monthly booklet, titled "The Poor Colonel".
