Question (To Mr. Sheldon D. Stokes). What do you think about this QUAD ESL-63 "Improvement via Modification" (new power cord, internal wiring and so on ...)?

A. I can't speak as much for the esl 63 as I can for the original ESL: For the original ESL, you can unplug the power cord and the speaker will play for many minutes before a reduction in volume is noticed. How important is power cord quality? Not at all. The audio transformer in the original ESL's has a huge length of plain or copper magnet wire. I'd say changing the last foot of wire isn't going to make any difference at all. Plus it's high voltage wire.
The ESL63 has about 10 miles of copper wire in the delay line, 2 feet isn't going to do a lot difference.

A.Unfortunately, there is very little we can do to stop this type of scam. However, if people are foolish enough to take the plunge, then they obviously have more money than sense.
