Microwave makes waves !
How fast can you check your bank account ? As
fast as you can cook, seems to claim the
developer (NCR, UK) of the "Microwave
Bank", which is an Oven, which allows users to pay bills,
transfer money and check account balances, and also shop online, surf the
Internet, watch TV and email their friends, and cooks as well. It can automatically
order replenishments for spent foods.
The 'MicroWave Bank' has a personal information
agent, which knows your health well enough to tell (for example) you to
use fatless milk rather than the fatty kind. It has a Touch-Screen input,
apart from a Voice Recognition system that gives the user, the choice
of not using Keys.
How to connect it to the internet ? It can be
connected via the powerline (if such a facility is available), or it can
be connected via wireless technologies. NCR plans to add iris scanning
and fingerprint identification for security purposes.
The gadget's main task has been (till now) to
prove that e-commerce can be 'pulled' beyond the traditional boundaries
of PC's and set-top boxes. NCR corp has said that it does not have definite
plans to commercialise the gadget.
