Caves of Steel by Isaac Asimov
This book is a science fiction suspense story. But more than that I liked it because for its protrayal of future civilization. The disappearance of variety, divorce from nature, mechanization of life and above all loss of dignity for human being are all logical extensions of the way we are living today. It seems obvious and very disturbing.

Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins
A very convincing book on theory of evolution. The phrase "Survival of the fittest" suddenly comes to life with more meaning. And as I saw more deeply, I could see the applications of the same principles in almost all walks of life including agency theory in finance.

Marathi

Pingalavel by G A Kulkarni
It is a collection of stories, typical GA style, very philosophical and somewhat depressing, but interesting nevertheless. The best one is "Orpheus". It is reinterpretation of the famous Greek mythological story. The philosophy of life and death in the story is beautiful.

Marathi Sahityacha Galiv Itihas by Pu La Deshpande
Absolutely hilarious!!! It supposedly traces history of Marathi literature. It is written in a mock thesis style, complete with footnotes and references. One of the best ones of Pu La.
