Frames and SEO site design
Frames are supposed to make navigation easier by keeping one part of a site constant while opening links in another part. With frames:
- Printing a document is harder
- Bookmaking is problematic
- Site may not be indexed by most search engines
- Some older browsers can't read frames
Say "No" to frames!
Frames make your life more difficult, so why use them? If you can avoid using frames, do so. This will save you a lot of headaches -- and you won't have to worry about search engines being unable to index your site.
For die-hard framers
If you do decide to use frames, you will need to make an extra effort to get your site indexed by search engines.
Frames:
- Present problems for search engines and people
- Should be avoided when possible
- Must be supplemented by text in the <noframes> tag if they're used
- Are ideally accompanied by workaround pages
