All dogs and cats should be dewormed every year, even if they never go outside and you see no parasites in their stool. Its cheap, safe and easy. A vet should deworm a pet at its annual exam, but pet stores and ag supply shops sell dewormers, too. The best active ingredient is fenbendzadole, it kills the broadest range of parasites. Deworming is important, not just for the health and comfort of pets, but because some of these parasites are zoonotic, meaning they can infect the humans in the house, too.  Our kittens are dewormed at least twice with Health Guard before going to their new homes.
