Going Grain Free - Entry for April 20, 2007
photo

I'm thinking we should choose a grain-free food for our cats.  We live in an area surrounded by wheat and corn, in a country that produces a lot of both between the two coastlines, and yet we cannot trust that the pet foods we buy have locally, safely produced grains.

Besides that, we know that cats cannot digest grains or vegetables; there is little-to-no value in these ingredients, except to alter and perhaps enhance  flavour and texture.  They receive their nutrition from meat and bones.  Most grain additives are binders, thickeners and fillers.

The following foods are fish-free and grain-free. We will try them and I'll report back.
