Opening Monologue

The following is a transcription of Scully's opening monologue which plays while you install the game. It was transcribed by myself, Richard Preece.

"During my work with Agent Mulder, my belief in science, in reason and in faith have been challenged repeatedly. Our investigations into the X-Files have brought us face to face with strange phenomena for which Agent Mulder turns to the fantastic for explanation. While I continue to believe that what cannot be explained will someday be explained through science, I can not help but be influenced by the power of Agent Mulder's beliefs. That there are dark forces at work in our government I can no longer deny, that innocent civilians have been used as test subjects and that lives have been lost to cover up these crimes is beyond refute. But I can not accept, as Agent Mulder does, that at the heart of these crimes is a conspiracy to cover up the existence of extraterrestrial life. In the absence of proof such life exists or reasons why powerful men might seek to hide it from us I can only continue my work with Agent Mulder by keeping an open mind, believing that science and reason will ultimately reveal the truth and sharing Agent Mulder's faith that the truth is out there."
