Luckinbill attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a degree in finance. He moved out to Los Angeles, and landed the role of J.T. fairly quickly. "I've been on Y&R as a recurring character for a long time, which has kind of expanded now," Luckinbill says. Luckinbill has also appeared on Nash Bridges and MTV, and shot a pilot for the WB last December. He has starred in one independent film that has yet to be released. "[Starring in films] is the direction I hope to head in over the next couple of years." When he's not on set, Luckinbill spends his time on the court, track and field. "I'm a crazy athletic guy," he declares. "I love playing basketball. I lift weights all the time, I water ski, I snow ski, run, I do anything I can to keep active."
