Giovanni di Malapietra appears as a common wraith but is clearly recognizable as the once evil ruler of Lizzieni, for his facial feature were preserved in the transition to undeath.

Combat: Giovanni is a much more powerful opponent now than he was in life. He attacks with two clawlike hands, causing 1d6 points of damage per successful hit. His touch drains 2 levels of spells, starting from the lowest-level spells. Spells drained are lost until the mage memorizes them again. The fearsome appearance of Giovanni prompts anyone looking at him to make a fear check. People from Lizzieni check at a –2 penalty. Wizards who are aware of Giovanni's spell-draining power have the same penalty.

Harming Giovanni is equally difficult. He is immune to charm, hold, sleep, and death spells, as with other undead. To hit him, magical weapons of minimum +1 enchantment are needed. Also, Giovanni has strong magic resistance (50%), which makes him especially hard to fight for Glantrian wizards.

As a consequence of his undead status, Giovanni cannot cast spells anymore. He has, however, some spell-like powers he can unleash on his opponents. Each day, Giovanni can use darkness thrice, chaos ward twice, and miscast magic once.

Giovanni di Malapietra has also developed a willpower that would surprise those who knew him in life. While he is turned as a 7 HD undead, he far more difficult to control: When an attempt to control him, Giovanni is allowed to save vs. spells to remain unaffected. Giovanni can also summon and control other wraiths as a 14 HD undead lord.

Habitat/Society: Giovanni di Malapietra roams the dead town of Lizzieni with his band of wraiths, killing all living being who might happen to be in the town, and searching for his hated brothers.

Ecology: As an undead wraith, Giovanni has no effect on the ecosystem.
