I learned after purchase that the car had been originally owned by a family friend of one of my best friends (this is what you can learn when your friends are snoops and look in the glovebox at all of the paperwork!).
I contacted them and learned that, indeed, the car had been traded in to Barrier Motors in Seattle mere months before on a new Volvo, and had originally been purchased less than 10 miles from where I was living at the time. I also learned that the car had never been in a significant collision, and who had performed a majority of the service.
Of course, it didn't look the way it does in these pictures when it was purchased. Changes have been incremental over the last few years, with more to come.
