52. THE 'ARUL’ PHENOMENON

Divinity though embodied in a particular Form, possess the
attribute to assume one or many forms simultaneously. These manifestations,
known as the 'Arul-Sariram' may occur at the same; time at places distant
apart. The phenomenon  has been
described in great detail in the ' Thiruvilayadalpuranams (Accounts of the
Mahimas of Siva)'. Undoubtedly, the 'Sakara-roopa (embodiment)' adopts this as
a means to provide physical protection and succor to a devotee in distress.

Dear readers, let us bow to the 'Nirakar-ViswaVirat-Swaroopa',
who has come as 'Sarva-Devatha-Swaroopa (All Deities in One Body)', and who
possesses the 'Aparoopa-Shakti (delightful power)' of adopting arul sariras,
for patronising the bhaktas.

Dr. T. Nallainathan L.R.C.P., M.R.C.P.(London) has been the
President of the Theosophical Society of Sri Lanka for over twelve years. He
has also been the Chairman of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samiti, Colombo.
Having read and heard a lot about Sri Sathya Sai, the doctor decided to visit
Parthi for Baba's darshans.  He
therefore went to the local Travel agents in Colombo, to make the necessary
arrangements for the journey. The agents were not able to locate where
Penukonda was. There seemed to be a dead end. Precisely at this time, there
appeared a bearded Muslim, wearing kafni and a piece of cloth wound round his
head_undoubtedly Shirdi Sai.

In an article published in the Souvenir ' AT THE LOTUS FEET', Dr.
Nallainathan describes explicity how he experienced this wonderful      'arul phenomenon'. He writes~ ". . .
.when Bhagavan gave me darshan in Colombo in concrete form (in arul sariram as
Shirdi Sai), He spoke fast and clear in Sinhalese! This command of all
languages is not mentioned as an attainment of Yogis in any book on Yoga It is
explicable only on the theory of the arul-body (Grace-Body). In that arul-body,
He can do anything He wants, for, the instrument itself is Divine, hundred
percent Divine".
