Fleas and lice
This interview was done around 1996
I think, first Piet gives a history of Fleas and Lice.
Mushroom Attack splitted up durring their disastrous U.K tour
(may 1992) ,robbie, piet and maynard decided to start a new punk band,with
the help or joshoa on bass FLEAS AND LICE was born back from the grave.
We did our first tour (the fuck your nationality tour) in narch 93 together
with DISORDER tourring Germany, Zchec republic,Switzerland, Italy, France,Belgium
and holland.In may Esther joined us and we recorded our first ep "parasites"
out on Skuld releases.In June we did a tour together with HIATUS, tourring
Germany,Zchec republic and poland.ln Gdansk(poland)we were attacked by neo—
nazis which smashed our van and sent Esther and our driver Martin to the
hospital. A polish label released a split live ep with HIATUS "polish Bastards"
benifit for our van.
In march 94 we did a tour together with BRAWL(Ireland)
tourring Belgium, Holland, Germany,Zchec republic,England, Ilreland,In dublin
we recorded our split LP with Bleeding Rectum(lreland).
In september a tour In France,Spain,Switzerland,Italy,Greece and Germany.joshoa left the band
and Oene from ex choni core joined us.In 95 we released the split LP with
BLEED1NG RECTUM from belfast on Skuld releases also a split EP with BATTLE
oF DISARM fron tokyo on a d.i.y japanease label. In may we did a tour tegether
with CONCRETE SOX tourring in Germany and Holland.ln september the up the
punks tour together with BRAWL,tourring Holland (where we celebrated our
100 anniversary gig.),Germany,Zchec republic,on that tour piet broke his
foot so he was having to stop because of the pain.In October we did the
amerikklcan dream is a nightmare tour together with STATE OF FEAR from
Minneapolis(U.S.A) tourring the Canada and the states. In november we recorded
some new songs.
End decemeber we did the merry crust mas tour together with
BOYCOT(holland)+ HIATUS tourring in Holland. In may 96 the release from our
spilt EP with ASSRASH(Minneapolis U.S.A) out on skuld releases and Profane Existence.
In may a tour together with BOYCOT.In June a tour together with
DISTRESS (holland) + DISFEAR (Sweden) tourring in Belgium,luxenburg. france.
In august the anarchy in the U.K tour together with GRUFF (Bremen,Germany)
tourring England and Scotland. In september our new 12 inch is released out
on skuld reIeases and Profane existence and a tour in Germany,Zchec republic
and poland.IN october another tour In Germany and holland.our future plans
are to write new songs durring the vinter and we are planning & tour
togheter with STATE OF FEAR (Minneapolis U.S.A) tourring Germany and
Scandinvia in the next spring aprll 1997.
What stuff have you released so far, do you get alot of
people bootlegging your music?
Piet: ep 'parasites' on skuld releases, split ep with HIATUS 'polish bastards',
split ep with BLEEDING RECTUM on skuld, split ep with BATTLE OF DISARM,
split ep with ASSRASH on skuld and profane existence, and our new 12 inch
'global destruction' is just out on skuld and profane.
Alot of people from Poland are bootlegging our music, most of them never
ask for any permission to bring it out they just bring it out and
we don't know nothing about it, it is the same with t-shirts or patches
we don't agress with this attitude because we fell ripped off. During
last summer we did meet alot of them selling our stuffs at alot of punk
festivals making alot of money on our back. It sucks.
How did the USA tour go, what
were the best/worst gigs?
The USA tour went pretty well, we did loose alot of money but we did
meet alot of cool punks. The best gig was definitly the gig in Minneapolis
at the profane existence local together with the mad drunk ASSRASH. The worst gig
was in Philadelphia where we got paid less than 2 dollars.
What do you think of Epiaph bands and green day?
I think if bands want to sign with Epitth well they are free to do what
they want and I don't give a fuck about green day.
What is the punk/HC scene like in Holland/Groningan these days?
Pretty dead
Any plans of coming to Ireland?
We will love to come back to Ireland but we are such lazy loosers that
it will take ages before we move our fat arses, take care and up the punks
