I first heard of this Czech label when I heard they were releasing Easpa Measa's mcd. Quite a good d.i.y label.
1. What first prompted you to start a label?
Iīve started not like the serious label. First record i did is 3 way split tape of NUCLEAR GRINDER / MASTIC SCUM / CRIPPLE BASTARDS split and it was sometime in the beginning of 1997 year. I was 16 years old and before i did this tape i was doing also the zine, under the same name like my "label". Before this i was just ordinary music maniac going on each concert or show etc. But i totally flow away with this and iīve started to do a zine but it was not enough so iīve started to put some records out.
2. What's been you most sold release so far?
I donīt fucking know, i donīt fucking care. Sorry.
3. Did you find it hard finding a manufactoring plant/what plant would you recommend?
In Czech itīs not a hard to find a manufacture to work out vynils, cds or tapes. Problem is that thereīs not many of them (especially for vynils) and their prices are always getting more expensive. For example in czech is cheaper to make a CD than a 7" vynil. believe.
4. Have you lost money from distro's, shops, traders, credit card fraud etc Any advice on how to avoid it?
Yes, shit happens everywhere and all the time. If i donīt talk about some stolen records from distro on the shows (sometime it happens). Ripping off is not good way and i am really happy that during all the years i did not meet many rip offers. But the most shitty thing is many lost parcel by the post officers. You know what i mean. You send a parcel with records and 3 months later somebody writes you that he did not get it or something like that. It happens that some parcel is lost during the transport or what. Or some asshole stole it because he think that inside are money or shit like that.
But the most shitty thing happened me now. After first concert of the BORN/DEAD and MASS GENOCIDE PROCESS (the band where i play on drums) somebody stole me my wallet. It was in the night, in the pub after the show. I was not drunk, propably just not enough carefull. This asshole stole me all my personal documents, credit cards and all the money from my bank account.
This is really not nice and it looks i will have some hard financial troubles right now.
5. Do you have many old releases gathering dust under your bed?
Not many, just some of them. I have so called box under the bed, where i save some copies of my vinyl releases and 20 years later i will sell them on Ebay (haha).
6. What distribution would you recommend for a band/label?
I work with many labels and distributors from all around the world and i can recommend all of them!!!! Just few to Mention : Profane Existence, Malarie, Mondo Cannibale, Social Napalm, Yellow Dog, Insane Society, Exutoire and many other.
7. Do you use companies outside the 'd.i.y network' to distribute your releases to record shops, is it worth it?
I donīt use them so much. I try to keep it in small and diy spirit. But some my friends have a small shops. Shops with metal music, Skateboarding etc. so they also sell so my releases. But as i said its not a big companies, and also itīs not a diy, but itīs my friends so i think itīs ok.
8. Is there anything advise you'd like to add for folks planning to release a piece of vinyl or CD?
I donīt know what to say. I have nothing what i can recommend or not. Maybe just be a fair... But i really hate idiots who has never did any tape or release or a concert or whatever else, but always complaining to you that you are a money-maker bla, bla, bla.... idiots. Nothing more to say, just maybe you can try to do something by your own before you start to talk the shits.
9. What are the next planned releases for the label?
Ok, itīs a discography from dutch band KRUSH, NEEDFUL THINGS "Dead point" LP, UTREJCH cass.
