Kylesa blend a fine mix of crust and metal with three vocalists. I can't stress how good this band are. This interview was done with Phillip Cope, one of the 3 vocalists in Kylesa.
1. How did the tour of Europe go?Did you get a good reaction, did you find it was much differant than touring in the states? Any mishaps, flat tires etc?
Phillip: The tour went great. We were really happy with the reaction we got and it was a nice change of pace from touring the states. Other than some lost equipment on the plane(which we eventually got back) and a minor van breakdown, things went really smooth.

2. What do you think helps the band or which do enjoy doing more, recording or touring?
Phillip: I think that they are both important and we enjoy doing both. Touring is the most exciting part because it is where you get to see the hard work you've put into your songs go into effect and you get to meet and hang out with lots of cool people. Writing and recording to me is very rewarding. I love to see all our idea's come together in a finished form. Sometimes it can be very challenging, so to actually get it done feels like a great accomplishment.

3. The Pushead artwork is fantastic, do you plan for him to design all future releases? Do you give him lyrics etc to base his designs on or do you have an idea of what you want for the cover before hand?
Phillip: We certainly hope that we will work with pushead some more. We don't make any suggestions with him. He gets advanced music and lyrics and goes from there. We have never felt a need to give him any guidance. We've never been let down by what he has come up with.

4. What are your influences (musical/non-musical)as a band? Do you still have the same mentality of where the band is coming from now as you did in the begining?
Phillip: What we are influenced by, is all over the place , both musical and non-musical(way to many to list all). We listen to lots of different styles of music and draw inspiration from various sources, obviously we are big fans of heavy music first and foremost, but certainly not exsclusively.

5. How do you go about writing your songs. At times I find the mellow parts really capture the listener. Are the songs jammed out or put together piece by piece?
Phillip: There really isn't a set pattern to how we write. We try lots of different approaches. We do jam some, and sometimes someone will come to practice with a set idea that works. It really varys from song to song.

6. Whats your plans, gig wise and release wise for 2006?
Phillip: We don't have any set plans yet, but we are going to try to go back to europe and hopefully, have an album worth of material written by the end of the year. it's hard to say exactly what all we're gonna do so early in the year, but we do plan on staying busy!
