1. What has the band been up to lately in regards of shows, touring or recording?
Well we took the summer off to relax and work on our New cd "Rising Crust!" it's a split with Hulluus from Wisconsin (ex Despite) and we'll be back on the stage December 10th for the Release party! We had been Playing a lot. We toured to the East coast Twice and Made it to Newfoundland! and we toured down to the States twice last year as well so after we got back from tour at the end of May We decided to take some time off to rest and record. Playing only one gig in June and that was the CanaGrind Fest. That was alota Fun!
2. Could you tell me more about the Doom for a day gig and how it came about?
Haha! Well to make a long story short. One of our friends is married to John Doom's Sister. He was Coming to Visit. We had just Released our split with Sore Throat (of which John was an original member) He wanted to jam some Doom songs with some people and Our friend said the Only people in the Scene that would know who Doom is would Be the Murder Squad! So john sent me an Email and I said why do a couple o' songs let's do a Whole Set! John even let Me Pick the Songs! so We Started working on the Set after we got back from our Quebec Tour in May.We enlisted Kyle from Armed & Hammered on Drums (as Shannon was moving) John Showed up at the End of August and we told him that we booked 2 shows as "Doom for a day" one in Toronto and the other in Montreal. The rest as they say is History. It was an Honour to Play with him. I never Thought in a Million Years that this would ever happen! He is So cool! and the Shows were amazing esp. in Montreal. Kids were crying an shit haha!
3. Are you still involved in tattooing Mike? Do you have any words of wisdom, praise or dismay about the tattoo industry?
What? I've never Tattooed where did you get your Information?? hahaha! I love Tat's though...Just make sure it's what you want 'cause your stuck with it!
4. There seems to be a big crust scene in your neck of the world days days? What other bands, zines etc would you recommend from there?
Wow really?? (haha!) Legion 666 F'n Amazing!! Fuck the Facts as well. Our Label mates the Polidicks um....System Shit & Existench from Halifax geeze.....um there were some amazing bands from Montreal but now broken up.
5. what's next for Murder Squad? Thanks very much for you time Mike
Well the new Cd, More touring...we 're going out to the west coast through the States then up to Vancouver and back across Canada. Work on New songs for a Split with System Shit. Then Probibly Drink too Much, Play too Loud and Thrash too hard!! (haha!!)
