1. could you give a brief background about the band? how long ye've beeing going what you have released etc. I'm guessing you got the name from that controversial photograph by American photographer Andres Serrano (depicts a small plastic crucifix supporting the body of Jesus Christ submerged in a glass of the artist's urine)? Hey how ya going...we started out 3 years ago! We were all staying in this punk warehouse in northcote and Pisschrist was something like a house band. One of our house mates suggested it. It was a rude and brutal name plus when the actual photo of pisschrist came to melbourne there was a big controversy that led to the smashing of the pic by christian groups.. so far we have this releases... Pisschrist/ Mareidt split 7'' 2. Do you get a strong rection to a name like 'Pisschrist', I know venues here in Ireland, won't put on a band, if the name is too extreme (for example Bleeding Rectum)? Nah..people still put us on at venues. Mostly people who wear our t shirts get hassled. Also this one time all our tour posters got ripp off the wall by christian youths./p> 3.What is the scene like in Victoria,Australia? many gigs, actions etc? There are lots of gigs but not all are punx. Punx shows happen maybe 3 or 4 times a month. Melbourne, Victoria has really good band scene. So if you are into lots of different music...you could easily fill your time by just going to shows everyday. There are lots of actions happening in our scene particularly with uranium mining and logging of old growth forest. But there are also indigenious rights struggles, reclaim the streets actions, workers rights, students rigths etc. 4. How did your tour go in Indonesia and Maylasia? Was there a good rection, were the crowds much differant than in Australia? The tour in SE Asia went well...At one show we played to like 1000 punx!! All the shows were ace and people just went ape shit. It was real experience. There is more of a DIY spirit , people are pissed an active...the struggle much more. Since then we have made a 6 week tour to Europe. 5. Anything you'd like to add, future plans for Pisschrist? Thanx so much for the interview!
