Vagabondage

Well Vagabondage were a new band from Dublin, who lasted about a year and played some gigs with Coitus, Oi Polloi and Chaos U.K. in Dublin. The interview is from 1992

Protest: Give us a bit of info about yourselves and music state of mind?

Vagabondage started around April and we did 2 gigs in Barmstormers supporting Noise Pollution and Drunken Nuns and Fuffy Stuff. We did a few covers of Doom and Oi Polloi and some others which we made up in a practise a few hours before we played(the total resistance gig was the best where we made it all up on the spot). Other people in Vagabondage who played are Ronnie, Conor, Godsy, Bren, Jay, and also Burkey, Niall and I'm sure theres a few others I forgot, by the way I'm only the drummer. Musically, I'm into alot of punk rock, I can't speak for the rest.

Would you say drugs play a big role in your music or would it be more poteen and spuds?

Drugs, Poteen, scrumy, Nutmeg, spuds, dood, whatever we have?

Do ye like living in Dubland? Do ye take part in teh local G.A.A, What are your favourite counties outside of ye're big city?

Dublins alright if ya like D.S and dickhead bouncers who think your lucky if you get into their shite pubs. I don't take part in th eG.A.A or any other sport cos I'm too lazy. I like Tipp, Galway, Kerry, Cork they're the only ones I really know, that I liked, Black Spot records in Limerick is good, but expensive.

Would ye ever contemplate singing in your native Irish tongues like Paranoid Visions have done and Anfren in Wales? Do you thjink thers a need to promote our Irish tongues?

I would contemplate writing a song in Irish, but thats as far as it goes, because my Irishisn't too good. We should promote our Irish tongues because its our language, other countries still have theirs.

What do you think of (a) steel capped wellies? 9b) Irish punk music and zines.(c) David Irving? (d) Ignorant minded fascist barmen? (e)The new "Devils bit" cider? and (f) drugs?

(a)Tough one, I've never seen them.(b) The more the better(c) Ignorant wanker(d)Ignorant minded fascist wankers(e)Not as nice as Linden(f) Legalise it and I will adevertise it, hopefully very soon, its about time. I hate quoting songs but Peter Tosh has a great way of putting it.

Would you like to say something really bastardly about "Protest's" readership?

Yes, I'd love to.
