I've liked The Varukers for years, since I was about 15 when I saw the punk documentry UK/DK, and they did the song "soldier boy". When I first saw them play live everyone was shouting for that song. I still love their old stuff, but I do think since they got back together in the early nineties their music has progressed to an even harder punk/hardcore sound. My favourite album of theres has to be "How do you sleep..", if you haven't heard them yet, get that album.

How this interview came about was, I was on myspace journals, being the nerd I am when I got a message from The Varukers saying 'how's about an interview', ha ha, now how many other zines get asked by one of their favourite bands for an interview :). ::interview done 15-sept-05::

You've been playing a long time now, do you ever think you could make a living off The Varukers?
No,not EVER!!!!...we toured quite a bit over the last 8 years, but usually it costs us to do so as we drink so much!!!...don't know many bands who actually do make a living. After all,it's punk rock!!

Can you see your self's in 20 years from now singing about war, politics etc with walking frames. How often do you tour?
Well, let's face it,the world's as shit now as it was back in the 80's...singing songs about girlfriends and teenage angst just isn't our style,is it??It's not just coincidence that the words STATE and HATE rhyme....p.s.we already use walking frames.we've not done as much touring this year as we would have liked to,but next year we should be back on the ball

Where's been the best place to tour so far?
Everywhere we have toured has been good to us,Japan,America and Brasil are cool, but so is Europe and the UK at he minute

How many line up changes have you had throughout the years? Whose in the band now, are you in any other bands? Are Sick On the Bus still going? I heard that one of you was in Legion of Parasites? They were a mighty band whatever happened them?
Well,so many people have been in and out he Varukers it would take all year to tell you..Sick On The Bus played with us this saturday in Amsterdam, and they were rocking!!..it was in fact Wag,their last drummer who was in L.O.P, Biff is in SOTB and the Jackoffs as well, Rat is in Discharge and me and Sean occasionally play in MYWAR,which is sludgemetalcore sort of stuff

With a lot of history of being in different bands, do you think it's any easier to get gigs etc, due to the Internet and the punk music scene in general?
The internet has been a blessing to us over the recent years, it's so much easier to arrange stuff...also,it saves on phone bills and helps with the fact that many foriegn promotors can't understand our accents/brain damage. We get a lot of shows via the net,so I think it's a fucking good tool

Any plans of paying a visit to Ireland in the distant future?
Just arranged SOTBus and Varukers this weekend for Dublin/Belfast...can't fucking wait mate!!!

What's next for The Varukers?
Just finishing off the new album(1/2 recorded allready) and get out there next year gigging it...so,busy busy busy
Cheers for for the interview Sean
