Radio Course
Will be offered by Gary Invanti through Malaspina College the week of Nov 21st on the Tuesday and Wednesday. Check the Malaspina catalogue for the exact time. Cost $39 + $5 lab fee. CPS supplies the books and exams and can be obtained from Don Hurst. Exams will be provided by authorized exam providers, Ralf Aston (Coast Guard) or Glen McCallum ( Sea Cadet).
Finance
PRPS accumulated over $5000 in the bank account, looking for good course to donate the money.
Suggestion:
- fleece vests to be provided for the instructors and executives. The vests will have PRPS emblems on it. Approximate cost is $50-60/vest, $5-6/emblem. Jeff Mah will look into designing it in a digital file and will contact Taws.
- Donation to the boating community for improved convenience and safety. Jeff Mah will contact the Coast Guard.
Supplies
The Boat-pro program is popular and Ron requested thatr another 50 copies be ordered.
Boating Course
Jim reports the course is going well. Speaker from the Island will do the talk on Nov 23. The exam will take place on Dec 11 as planned. Volunteers are needed to help with marking the exams.
Carl mentioned that the island CPS provides a one class per week course which includes only 20 units and some home study. We may consider that for next year.
