The Poke are a hardcore punk band hailing from Limerick, Ireland. The band was formed by Mickey and Con around March 2002. After getting a few songs together they roped in Fiona on bass, Liam (ex Tooth, Goodnameforaband) on drums and Steve (ex Tooth, Goodnameforaband) on vocals. They played their first gig on the 26th of July supporting The Undead (of Misfits fame) with The Dangerfields.

After a few months of gigging, Steve decided to leave and concentrate on his other band Giveamanakick. Pared down to a four piece, the band kept gigging while on the look out for a new vocalist. After a few gigs with Mickey, Con and Liam sharing vocal duties they decided not to bother getting a new vocalist. Liam then left the band and moved to Galway and the band went through the dreaded drummer-less period before Eddie from art noise rockers Ouch! Electro offered to drum.

The band have played with many local, national and international bands including The Undead, Divide, HHH, Stricknien DC, Right 4 Life and Dogshit Sandwich.

Musically the band have been compared to everyone from D.R.I to Napalm Death (you wish, Mickey) but the bands main influences would be Discharge, Conflict, Scatha, Doom and The Varukers etc....
