News from Linda:
Happy Holidays to all

Richie and Judy have gotten moved. They are living in DeLeon, Texas. In the last letter from them, they were getting settled in. They live close to Judy’s sister and her husband so that will help by knowing someone. Also, Camron and family have moved to Pennsylvania. They live close to Ritchie’s mom and there are some cousin’s there also, I think. We hope all are getting settled in and all is going well.

Haven’t heard from anyone except Nancy and they are doing okay, just real busy. They are going to be the hosts for our Christmas this year. Nancy has decided we will have different kinds of soups and all the trimmings that go with it plus POTATO SALAD, can’t have a get together without that. It is always a fun time no matter what we have.

The telephone just rang and it was Nancy, and she had heard from everyone. Richie had finished all his oral testing and did very well. They are fine. Had talked to Amy and she was doing real good. Talked to Jerry’s bunch and apparently they were fine, didn’t say otherwise. Nancy said Randy plans to get married in June, more later as details come.

Our family is doing okay, Tess has the bug right now but otherwise okay. Had our Christmas Cantata at Church last night and it was real good. The kids, all ages did all of it except a few solo parts and directing. We have lots of talented people in our Church.

Until next time may the GOOD LORD BLESS EACH ONE OF YOU.

Love to all,
Linda

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL FROM KENNY AND FRANCES

Much has happened since the last news update. We were on vacation in the fall news and yes retired people do take vacations. After we left Idaho, we toured Old Faithful and a bit of Yellowstone Park. We went through Cody and Casper Wyoming, pretty country but it is not necessary to return to that area. Oh yes we brought potatoes back, and there is a difference in the potatoes we get down here. I was sick when we got home, seeing how, before we went on vacation, was treated for an ulcer with a massive dose of antibiotic. It stripped the bacteria that caused the ulcer along with good bacteria. I had a diet of potato soup, buttermilk and yogurt until I could handle solid food. Virginia could have headed off the problem if we would have mentioned it. I’m fine now. I went back to work for a short while. In fact I plead insanity because it was 12-hour days, 19 days straight. The money was good but the body nearly didn’t make it. After Thanksgiving, we did take a trip to Lake Texana State Park to do some fishing but the water was too muddy and too windy and too cold. That was my excuse. The Park has a huge deer population and some trophy bucks.

Bruce changed jobs, no longer working offshore. He is working for Cooper, a company that puts together engine packages for the gas and oil industry. Also they do overhauls. He hired on to work in the shop, but now the boss wants him to work offshore seeing how he has offshore certification. Those jobs would be from 2 days to however long the repair takes. Good money, but will he take it? Tune in on the spring newsletter to find out.

Happy Holidays! From Colorado.

Our summer and fall were so busy. They went by very quickly!

Fresh snow covers our mountains. Skiers and snowboarders are everywhere. The skiing has been great. Meagan and Heather have enrolled in ski school and go every Saturday. In January, Meagan is going to continue skiing, but Heather is going to learn to snowboard. We have been having so much fun!

We really enjoy teaching Sunday school. Meagan and Loretta teach 4-6 year olds and Heather teaches 0-3 year olds. The church is great! The people are very nice and the pastor is wonderful! It's been a real blessing.

This fall, Grandad and Bamy (Kenny and Frances) came to visit us. We had a great time! We rode the gondola up Aspen Mountain, drove to Independence Pass to see the gorgeous colors in full bloom, and had a great visiting time.

We hope that you all are doing well! Have a great holiday!

News from Idaho

All is well here. T.J. is about the same for which we are very thankful. He takes very little medication and is getting regular check ups with a local Doctor of Internal Medicine.

We had a long beautiful Indian Summer and the foliage was prettier this year than it has been in a long time.

Dale and Frances spend a week with us and we had a good visit with them. Also, Elmeda came for a week, which we enjoyed very much. We celebrated their birthdays Dale and Frances have the same birthday on September 23rd and Elmeda’s is the 25th.

Our big news is that we are expecting another great grandchild in early June, and of course, we are excited about it.

Barbara and Dennis are doing well. They had a long, busy spring and summer with their major projects and are now putting steel siding on the shop building, weather permitting.

Roger is fine. In addition to international flying, mostly to Germany, he is busy doing a lot of grievance work for his union. He and his Pattie, from Florida will be here during Christmas and will snowmobile again in Yellowstone Park.

Kenneth, Shannon and little T.J. are OK. Shannon is feeling better now than she did earlier in her pregnancy. Kenneth changed jobs awhile back. He is a long haul truck driver for a company in Pocatello and hauls propane and oxygen to Salt Lake City, western Idaho, eastern Oregon, northwest Colorado and Cheyenne, Wyoming. He likes it and the company treats him very well. Little T.J. is 3 years old and is the light of our lives.

Happy holidays to all and our best wishes to everyone for a good New Year.

Elder-Watts News

Well it has been a very eventful past few months around here.

Jessie has apparently survived turning fifty. I thought that I was ready to do her in myself a few times, but she has an angel on her shoulder that I can’t beat. Her car broke down on a late Sunday night about two hours south of here, and the patrolman called me and asked me if I wanted to come down and pick her up. After some silence on the phone, he asked me if I was still there. All that I have to say about it is that she should be glad that it was Sunday night, and the sermon on brotherly love was still fresh on my mind. I still got up at 5:30 and went to work. Her car has been giving her some trouble, but it was used when we got it, and she hasn’t done anything to keep it up.

Lloyd fell from the trailer (he is still a truck driver) on October 18, in Keifer, Oklahoma (just southwest of Tulsa). He busted up his hip pretty bad. They ended up shipping him to Oklahoma City the next day. They were talking about a hip replacement, but when they pulled his leg bone down out of his busted hip socket; the bones came back together. He ended up with a pin through his leg bone just above the knee so they could attach some traction and keep his leg out of his hip. That way he didn’t have any surgery, other than having the pin installed. Since he was just minimal care and healthy otherwise, they moved him to a nursing home while his hip healed. He was flat on his back with his leg in traction for 6 plus weeks. They then put him in a rehab hospital for two weeks, and tried to teach him to walk again. He kept complaining about the food, and I guess that he had a point since he lost about thirty pounds. Anyway, he is now at mom’s waiting on a doctor’s medical release so he can go back to work. He is speculating that it will be at least mid-January.

Haven’t heard much from Lowell lately, He came up to visit Lloyd a couple of times while Lloyd was tied up. Heard that his kids (Ben and Katie) made the honor roll again. Ben is playing the coronet or trumpet or something. Katie is looking forward to a trip after school lets out for summer.

Mom is still doing great, She flew up to visit Virginia while Dale and Frances was there, and came home about a week later. She had also flown down to Florida last summer and stayed for most of a week. Right now, with the weather, there isn’t much getting out. But, she usually does something every day with either a neighbor or my mother-in-law. I believe that she is relieved that Lloyd’s ordeal is almost over. She kept busy with me hauling her to visit Lloyd on a daily basis. I have driven her car more these past two months, than it has traveled in the past two years.

Well, and now finally with my family. Carol has stayed busy caring for her Aunt Stella that has cancer and is living in an assisted care facility. Carol is very faithful about taking her to doctor appointments and assisting her as required. Carol’s time is also stretched between working at the hospital, checking on her mom and my mom, and checking on her Aunt Kathryn who is now 101 years old. John is a senior in high school. He has applied for and has been accepted at the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa. His classes will start in August. Rachel is in the 7th grade, and is getting to be a young lady. Her basketball season is in full swing, and since they were the state champions last year, they have their hands full this year just to stay on top. She is also plain horse crazy. She has riding lessons twice a month, and would rather clean a stall than clean her room. And for me, my job was terminated in September when my company discontinued the product that I was taking care of. I believe that they called it ‘a strategic realignment’. What it means is that we got a new CEO in July and my product was computer based and he didn’t understand it, so he pulled the plug. Oh well, it was due for a major rework and upgrade, and I don’t think that they wanted to fund the project. Anyway, I went to work for another company the next week doing clerical work at a circuit board manufacturer. They felt that it was easier to get an engineer to do clerical work, than it was to teach a secretary to understand engineering. All the resumes that I sent out in September seems to mature these past few weeks. Anyway I don’t have the legs to be a secretary, so I started a job with a local manufacturing facility this week. It has been just three days, and I believe that I am going to fit well in their engineering department. It is essentially the same money that I am used to, and it is a whole bunch closer to home. It doesn’t appear that I will be doing any more travelling though.

Saturday 12-23-00 Last Minute News

Took Mom out to Nancy’s in Groom Texas, Lowell met us there and will take mom home with him for the holidays. Lowell will take mom to Dallas on the 30th for an Elder get-together, a fiftieth wedding anniversary, then we will bring her back home with us. Saw Monta and she said to tell everyone happy holidays. Received an e-mail from Roy which said that he had been out of touch and didn’t have anything to add for the newsletter. Have not heard anything from Louada, Sharon or Jeannie. Maybe they will have plenty of news for the spring news letter.

The days are bright, the snow is pretty, and blue sky is on the horizon. God is definitely treating me better than I deserve.

I hope each and every one of you has a wonderful Christmas season.

News from Idalou, Texas

Actually, I was just up to see Lloyd once, Kids are doing great as you say, Katie is 17 going on 32. Might mention that she is planning to graduate in May, a year early. And the trip to New York City is still in the works. Ben is playing a French horn kind of thing that looks like a big trumpet, don't remember what it is called, some kind of Marching French horn. We are planning a quiet Christmas here, just the four of us and hopefully some friends over for dinner, (I am on call that day so don't call me, I won’t answer) and a trip to Dallas area the following weekend to see Dianne's dad and the Elder family. Dianne has been working part time helping a woman do child-care in her home. She is also still involved with her Mary Kay business. My work is great. I'm just waiting for my boss to get fired so I can have his job. I have a trip to Minneapolis for some equipment training that is yet to be scheduled, but will probably be either in February or March.

See y'all on the 30th

And further more...

I was also able to attend some high school football games this year, first time in 6 years. (I am working day shift now!) I went with Katie to most of the out-of-town games. We had a lot of fun, especially since they made it to the playoffs. Idalou finally lost to Sonora who went on to become 2A Division I State Champs.

Yada yada yada, Merry Christmas and have a safe and prosperous New Year.

Lowell, Dianne, Katie, and Ben Elder
