Dear Family:

Everyone in our family is doing good. Really sorry I missed the family reunion at Pampa the 9th. I did make it to Randy Finsterwald and Courtney Gridley’s wedding. It was really a beautiful wedding. They left in a fire truck siren’s going. Randy is a volunteer firefighter. The mother of the groom Amy looked especially beautiful.

Stephanie, Herb and Connor have moved back to their home in Fairview. Steph will teach high school English in Ringed and Connor will start to kindergarten in Fairview. They are doing a lot of painting and repair work to their house.

Ben, Janna and Genoa are okay. Just busy with jobs. Janna also goes to school and Genna is enjoying summer vacation.

Tess is doing pretty good. Still going to rehab at Elk City so she drives over a couple of times a week for 2 sessions each day. Speech and psychological therapy. Is to start vocational rehab later.

Curtis and I have been to several softball and baseball games over the last couple of months. Our grandkids, Brennan and Britney are playing on the Burns Flat-Dill City teams. Brennan’s team is doing well but the girls teams hasn’t done quite so well. Just need more experience. Curt quit his job with the state the middle of May. In a week’s time his blood pressure was normal. The stress in the office was terrible. No job is worth having a stroke over. He has started drilling and finally found a crew so he is a happy person again. That makes everyone happy again.

Jerry’s family is doing well. Jerry hit the big 50, June 2nd. Belated wishes. Evan turned 16 a week later. So everyone beware as he has a valid drivers license and a vehicle. He’s on the road. Congrats!! The grand baby is really growing.

I still stay with a little 89 yr old lady, 5 days a week. Even though it is very trying at times she is quite a card most of the time. Richie and Judy are both working and really enjoying life. The girls and families are ok last I heard. Cameron and Cliff and children have moved back from Pennsylvania. Cliff is starting college in the fall. Chandler is excited Daddy is starting to school the same year she is. Orion will go to hear start. That will sure keep Cameron busy making sure everyone has clean clothes and bathed not to mention all the other things she has to keep her busy.

Nancy and Randal are busy as usual doing well. Heather made a business trip to Calif recently with her job. Took a wrong exit in LA and had to walk several miles back to her hotel. Not fun, I’m sure. Rhett is fine according to his mom. Better late than never!

News from Idaho

Our most exciting news is the new addition to our family. Jordyn Lyn Jensen was born May 18th, weighed 7 pounds 7 ounces and was 19-1/2 inches long. She is doing exceptionally well and is a beautiful little girl. Little T.J. is really proud of his little sister and is a very good big brother.

The rest of the family is doing well. T.J. is about the same and is still being maintained on very little medication. Barbara and Dennis are fine-busy with their jobs, grandchildren, etc. Their latest project was a cradle which Dennis made and Barbara tole painted for a baby expected by Dennis's nephew and wife in Lewiston, Idaho which they were here for a few days in late May. He and some friends had spent some time in Yellowstone Park which was very enjoyable. He was here just after Jordyn's birth so he got to see her. Shannon and Kenneth are fine. Kenneth's job keeps him away from home a lot and Shannon says she feels like a single mom with 2 children! Seems like gardening weather is late in arriving this year - we've had 2 frosts lately and the garden plants are having a hard time getting started as well as flower transplants. Hope we hear a lot about the recent family reunion and Randy's wedding. Sorry we couldn't be there - maybe next time.

Love to all and God Bless.

Hello to all!

Sharon graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University on May 12. I decided to surprise her and Mom with an unannounced visit. You see, I was originally scheduled to go to Alexandria VA for a 2-week training class for my new job, but they rescheduled it for Dallas April 30 - May 11. So, I decided to not tell Sharon and Mom and SURPRISE them. I rented a car at DFW after my class finished and made a quick trip to Altus so I could hop in the car with them and drive to Weatherford OK. I made it by about 15 minutes. My aunt and uncle (on Mom's side) who live in Weatherford were in on the surprise and hosted us for part of the weekend. After I snuck up to Mom's door, knocked on it, and took a picture with her jaw dropped open, she said that she was never so surprised in her life! Sharon's expression wasn't quite as shocking, but I got a picture of that too when she came in a few minutes later. It was nice to spend time with Mom on Mother's Day, too.

Jason graduated from high school in Lathrop MO on May 20. Mom and Sharon drove up there for that. Jeremy had a few weeks of school left to go as there had been so many snow days that they were still finishing up the school year (except the seniors didn't have to). Jason talks about getting a job a Hallmark Cards in Liberty, but also talks about working at the Ford assembly plant where his dad works in Kansas City. We'll see what happens.

Sharon and Mom went to a Tipton OK community fish fry recently with Mom's friend David. Sharon said that she felt like she was trying to catch up on her social outings that she did not have while she was in school. Now that she's finished with that, she's working hard on painting her house inside and out, and miscellaneous other things to get her house ready for sale. Then it goes on the market while she finalizes her resume and applies for a nursing job in Greenville. With the nursing shortage like it is, she won't have any problem. She will probably end up at Greenville Hospital System--maybe in the heart institute under construction. She'll probably get a big signing bonus too. We plan for Billy to have his own apartment by then, so that Sharon can stay with us for a while. That way she can have some time to get acquainted with the area and decide where she wants to get an apartment or house of her own.

It was very hard for Cecil and I to be apart while I was at training. But I stayed busy during the day with the fast-paced training. I dare say that I got spoiled having a maid for 2 weeks and not having to cook or clean. But it's always good to get back home. I'm enjoying my new job; much of it includes duties I was already doing in my previous job.

Our church is in the process of buying 60 acres of beautiful land (partially wooded) on which to build a new building. We will eventually have ball diamonds and retirement homes there also. The church currently has $53,000 toward the purchase and is about to begin a fund-raising campaign. That's all going to be very exciting for us!

Enough for now . . . God bless you all . . . .

Dear Watts Family:

There are lots of transitions made right now for my family and me. I have moved to Idalou, Texas, "alone". This is down the street and a few blocks over...very close to Dianne and Lowell.

I believe Roy may go back to Albertson's as foreman in Ft Worth, which would be closer to his sons. They need him in their lives and I feel I have convinced him of that. Richie is spending some time with his dad in Pampa, at Grandpa and Grandma Watts' while they have gone to Michael Ann's to wait for the newest grandson. If she has not had it by the 29th, I believe that was the date, they are going to induce Michael Ann's labor. I know they are excited... welcome to the parent trap. Kelly Ann. ha

Venessa Dawn will be bringing another little cowboy into the family around the last of August... her dad said he would pay $500 on the hospital bill if she would have on his birthday... Venessa said she is going to let Roper decide... ha. My first grandson was named Rowdy Lee. My second grandson was named Roper Lee... You don't think their dad is proud do you? J.L. (Lee) and Venessa moved into their new home on 18 acres. Venessa said it is sooo nice to go feed the livestock and it isn't all over the countryside in available pastures. I haven't seen their new home, but it sounds wonderful. I am proud of them. Venessa works as accountant and J L is working in Duncan for Halliburton. They like to rodeo and do horse shows. Rowdy likes to ride too.

Jennifer is working at Interurban in Enid. She will start her masters in the fall; she is also working part time with the same architect that she did her internship with. She gets to work at home with different projects. She seems to really enjoy that.

Laura will graduate from nursing school in a year. She works at Applebee's and works part time at a nearby hospital I believe. This the time of the year for the lake and you won't find her very close to the house for news ...

I will take my last Excet test June 30th... I have my resume's out and have been beating the bushes... there are so may ways employment could take me. I prefer a school environment and there are plenty of those here.

Take care and pray for me... I am embracing adversity and allowing it to make me better not bitter. Pray for Roy ... he has been a friend.

Katie's Adventure Hey, I thought I would tell you a bit about my trip to New York. The first place we went was our hotel, which was about a half a block from Times Square. That night we also went to the empire state building. We also went to the statue of liberty and climbed all the way to the top. It is so not even worth it! I wanted to go to Ellis Island but didn't get to. We went to 2 Broadway shows: Caberet and Kiss Me Kate. Lenny Kravitz (famous singer that resembles Jimi Hendrix) was at cabaret. We went to CBS's early show where we say destiny's child! We went to the museum of modern arts. We went on a shopping spree. On the way back they "accidentally" canceled us off our flight so we waited for a while and got the next flight, then we were stuck in Houston (flying Continental) for the night because of the hurricane (Alice) there was 30 FEET of water on I10!!! We finally got home about 5 the next day. It was fun but it was dirty, there were way to many people and I was ready to be home!

News from Oklahoma City

Summer has arrived, and Rachel is busy trying to use up her camp credits that she earned selling Camp Fire Girl candy and magazines. She will be in the eighth grade next year and is rapidly changing into a young lady.

John is again on staff at Slippery Falls Boy Scout Camp (this is his third year as staff-member) He has been given the task of leading trips down the Illinois River at Talequah, Oklahoma. The trips are about 58 miles and the travel at a leisurely pace covering the distance in 5 days and 4 nights. He graduated from high school this past May, and will start college at the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa sometime in August.

Carol is busy working as a RN at Southwest Medical Center. She has now been there about 19 years. Her dear Aunt passed on about two months ago and she of course was designated to distribute the estate. More paperwork than anything else, but she and the attorney seem to have most of it in line now.

For me, God keeps on blessing me, even when I don't realize what I'm doing. As most of you know, the product line that I was working with for 13 years was sold off in a corporate re-alignment last September. I located another job that is only 6 miles from home instead of 21. And with a higher starting pay than what I had with 13 years of seniority. The only downside to this new job is that I have to wait for a year for any vacation.

I took mom down to Idalou to see Katy graduate from High School a few days before Memorial Day. Lowell brought her to western Oklahoma on Memorial Day and I brought her home from there. We again visited Lowell's the second weekend of June and then went to the meeting at Pampa.

The turnout at Pampa was reasonable for the summer in west Texas. Attending was Garland, Roy, Dale and Francis, Louada and Sharon, Monta Fay, Elmeda, Lowell, Ben, Rachel and myself.

Greetings from Childress, TX

We have been going through some trying times since the untimely death of our daughter, Kimberly in April of this year. She was only 34 and she was recovering from a neck injury and surgery and was taking pain medication, also high blood pressure medication. She came down with severe Bronchitis and went to the doctor. He prescribed cough syrup with codeine. The combination of all the medications caused severe problems (as per our research) including vomiting and bleeding (as per our findings of her clothing and bed sheets). She was alone at the time, unable to call for help.

We want to thank all of the family for their support and prayers during this difficult time. It is important to keep our reunions and newsletters active.
