Garland’s Family

AH I made a mess... Help...Carol Rae. Note forwarded message attached.

I read the Watts newsletter with Angie (Jason's Mother), so she could learn something about my family. Much to both our surprise was Bill's name in the place of Jason's. Please have this corrected as soon as possible. His name is Jason DaVault, he is a surgeon at OU Medical Center in OKC. I will graduate December 13th, 2003 with double major in Biology and Chemistry with two minors in Art and Psychology. I will return to school in January to finish my BSN in Nursing and possibly go on to P.A. school (Physician's Assistant). I love you and I will send more news later. By the way we have been dating for two years and have been to Cancun twice, once with a hurricane and we are going to spend New Years Eve in Colorado snow skiing, who knows maybe I'll be engaged when we get back. We lost Jason's Dad February 15, 2003 to Pancreatic Cancer and since then we have been active in a group called PanCAN, I did a 3 mile run in Dallas at the zoo, two weeks ago came in first and raised the most money out of all the other participants. Currently I'm enrolled in 15 hours and after mid terms I have straight A's. There is a basic run down of my life.

Laura

Nothing much going on here. Just plugging away at making deliveries on my job. The company I worked for sold to another company and instead of getting laid off like normal people, now they have me taking care of all of my former company's deliveries. And with the holiday's coming up, the Tucson traffic gets heavier and heavier [like as if it was light to begin with]. This tends to slow down delivery times and as some of you out there already know, I don't have much hair left. [stressed out]. So other than wishing everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year not a whole lot more to say. Wished I could get back east that way again, but doesn't look like it will be any too soon.

Later and take care,
Terry K. Watts

Ed's Family

Since our last newsletter, our family has been blessed with a wonderful son-in -law. Heather and Ray James were married in a beautiful park by their church there in Austin on November 1st, surrounded by family and friends. Rhett, Ashley, Randal and I got to be there to witness the wonderful celebration of love. I don't know if y¹all have been counting or not, but that makes TWO more kids that God has added to our family this year. Wow! And we are so looking forward to all being together for Christmas

Randal failed his EKG during his yearly checkup in Nov. Got in to see the cardiologist that same day (PTL) had a heart cath the next day and a stint put in his heart on Nov. 24th. Is doing good, but is on blood thinners and is cold all the time, a rare thing for him. I'm still waiting for this menopause stuff to be the best time of my life like all the books say it is. HA!

Judy's dear mother passed away in Nov, after a long illness. It was so good to see the whole family at that time. Judy is having a hard time with high blood pressure and she is trying to prepare herself for back surgery that her doctor thinks is inevitable. Hopefully going to get a 2nd opinion soon. Richie was having some stomach trouble in the early fall, but the medicine he was given has helped tremendously, and he still loves his job.

Jerry and Teresa are adjusting to the empty nest pretty well. Both Chandra and Evan are going to college now and everyone is busy. And there are little ones running in and out most of the time, so the nest isn't empty for a very long period at a time. Jerry is feeling better now after some health problems this fall.

Lindy and Curt and family are all well and they all meet themselves coming back most of the time. Curt and Lindy got to do a bit of deer hunting over Thanksgiving. Just saw one small buck and passed that up, hoping for something bigger. Curt still works for the fertilizer place there in Cheyenne and Lindy cleans a few houses, but her real love is helping anyone in need. She recently took a cake decorating class. The last I heard, Genna's 16th Birthday cake that Lindy had made, a yellow Jeep, is still in the fridge. Genna loved it so much that she wouldn't let anyone eat it. Their whole family got to be together for the birthday celebration.

All of our family will get to be together for our Christmas celebration this year at Cheyenne. We will get together at noon on Sat. Dec. 27th. This way, Amy and Montie can join us. The feedlot keeps Montie extremely busy, and Amy is now a supervisor at the candle factory (which moved from Mason to Fredericksburg in the summer). Christmas time is their busiest time, so she takes her vacation right after. Randy and Courtney bought a wonderful home between Wheeler and Mobeetie recently, and I think you can see lots of wildlife on their property.

We pray that everyone has a joyful holiday season filled with love and thanksgiving for all the many blessings that God has heaped upon us this year, and that He will bless and keep each and every one throughout 2004.

Love to all
Nancy

Dale’s Family

This will certainly be a brief letter. So much is going on and I really don't know where to start. I think you all know by now Bruce and Robbie are grandparents again. Kay had another boy; I think Allen will make a good older brother. Kay is certainly making a fine mother.

Bruce and family are also doing well. They have settled into the new house, Daddy helped build a new porch onto the front of it. He certainly enjoys his time with them. Curtis desires to work on Harley motorcycles. I thought of him this summer as Ron and I made a trip to Gettysburg. We went on the anniversary of the battle itself, then we found It was compounded by a Harley anniversary just north in York, PA. About 30 miles north, we had to drive that far just to get a motel room. Curtis would have loved it, but I've seen and heard all the bikes I care to for a while.

Loretta and family have been managing a motel in Carbondale, CO for a while now. However, a few months ago the owner sold the place. Robert is staying on a bit doing some work for the new owner. Loretta is doing Bookkeeping for another Hotel company in Aspen at a good salary and benefits. So things are great.

Gailia and family are busy in a dozen directions as usual also. Currently I don't know exactly what or where. I have been slightly out of sorts this go around and haven't touched base with her. Last I heard a few months ago she and Amber were holding down the fort while Justin was still in the states. Nathen and Whitney (Marie) were in Mongolia translating for different groups. Whitney is currently attending school in Taiwan; I believe a school she has attended previously. Brandt has made a trip or two to the states while working on his masters among his other travels. Keep them all in your prayers please.

Frances is recovering from her back surgery well. She is still in a back brace and has a ways to go yet. Daddy is like a Timex and the energizer bunny; he just keeps on going and going and going. After our family reunion, he went to Frances' annual family reunion over the 4th of July. Frances' daughter, Sondi and her family have been living with them while trying to find a house to buy, then Lisa; another daughter came home to visit a bit longer after the reunion. When I called to talk to daddy briefly, all the commotion in the background reminded me of different family gatherings as a child also. They are so much fun.

As for my family, Neil is planning on being home Christmas. He will take his furniture back with him to Texas, to give him more of a feeling of home. Cheri' is growing even more lonely for Neil and her friends from school. I think I have another little bird about ready to leave the nest, no matter how much she loves her daddy. I think she's about ready to make that step, we shall see. Ron is my 'Christ' in the flesh- if you get my drift. He is steady-solid-firm; and like my daddy, he just keeps going. That keeps me going. I may have stated earlier, so forgive me if I have. I loved my job, but an all girl office is only good for so long. So long as you are not all so close to the same age. One year one enters menopause, two years later another enters menopause, and I am on the threshold. The first two are very competitive and both have to have the last word and have to be right all the time. I had to face fact! I must be the gutless wonder because a year and a half of that bickering was all I could take and I was out of there. Wonder of all Wonders! The migraine headaches I have had for three years stopped within one month! God is sure smart. He has a scripture that says it is easier for a man to live on a rooftop than in a house with a nagging wife! He's got that one right! I am a girl and I pray Ron knocks some sense into me if I get that way. (He promised he would.)

Gotta Go! I am late getting this to Joe, Cheri' bought this new computer, and we have just about got the details worked out so I can operate this thing. I love you all very much.

Elmeda's Family

Another year has passed with many changes, reality checks and 'awakenings'.

John is scheduled to be home for Christmas. He and his fiancé were planning to be married on the 20th, however he forgot that the Marines will re-arrange schedules just to put a bind in his plans and he is due to arrive here in Oklahoma City at 10:30 PM. He will be just a little late for his own wedding. They were looking at alternative dates between Christmas and New Years, but at this moment are planning to get married in a year after he returns from Iraq. Most of you are aware that John is in a combat infantry platoon and was in Iraq from the beginning. His unit came back to California in late July and is scheduled to go back to Iraq the first part of the year. Some of his friends returned from Iraq and turned around and went to Afghanistan. Pray for all of our troops in their noble war on terrorism.

Rachel is a sophomore in High School. Her school is celebrating its 100th anniversary this week so the classes are a little more fun due to the publicity. She is on the track and the volleyball team and is in a school bowling league. She also spends two weekends a month with the horse riding unit of Camp Fire. She is looking forward to her 16th birthday next May so she can drive herself to the different activities.

Carol celebrated her 20th anniversary of employment at the local hospital. Of course it was at the ritzy country club and were fed very little of something that we couldn't identify. But then again you don't go to those places to eat, you go to celebrate and socialize.

I have been doing fine after my shock treatments, my cardiologist is keeping me on medication and blood thinners. My co-workers were going to have a lottery to get to be the one that pulls the switch, but, the doctor wouldn't let them.

Merry Christmas,
Joe, Carol, John, and Rachel Elder

Virginia's Family

All of my family is doing well. Barbara and Dennis volunteer every Monday morning at T.J.'s kindergarten room. They are busy with work, home projects and being wonderful grandparents. Dennis is doing well regarding the blood clot in his lower leg and is still on a low dose of Coumadin daily.

Roger is fine - busy with his union job as grievance chairman, an elected position which will terminate next June. He has flown several trips to Amsterdam in October and November, purchased lots of tulip and daffodil bulbs, some of which are now planted in Blackfoot, Idaho. He was here for a few days in early October. He and his Florida friend, Pattie Reid will be here during Christmas and will snowmobile in Yellowstone Park again.

Shannon, Kenneth and little kids are O. K. - working hard but they do find time to have some fun, too. Kenneth works 6 days on and 3 off so it is hard sometimes to have time off together. T. J. is such a good little student in kindergarten. He was in a Christmas Pageant last week and he did his part very well. He just turned 6. Jordyn is growing up too fast. It is amazing how much she has grown and increased her vocabulary just in the last few months. She loves to have her hair done! She is 2-1/2.

I was ready to store the garden hoses and tools! I stay busy with activities of daily living, volunteer work helping qualified senior people with the prescription drug program - also did some volunteer work in the landscaped area at the church which was really beautiful this year. We planted over 400 various bulbs in the permanent flower beds in early fall so should have a great showing of blooms in early spring.

No appreciable amount of snow here so far this season, mostly rain which is badly needed but lots of snow in the mountains.

Love to all,
Virginia
