Monta's FamilyNo news at this time Virginia’s FamilyNews from Idaho We have had a very late spring so I have been really busy with yard clean up, planting/transplanting flowers, volunteering at the Senior Center helping low income people get their prescriptions filled at no cost or very little cost. Also, I have volunteered a number of hours at the church working on our landscaping project. Just recently completed the building so some landscaping needed to be done such as enlarging our rose beds and making some new beds around the perimeter of the building. We served a lunch after church one Sunday to raise money for our project and with lots of donated hard work, soil amendments and plants we will be rewarded with beautiful flowers all summer and in the years to come. Barbara is not working at her part time job now and is spending a lot of time tole painting items for sale and is doing quite well. Dennis, although retired, is busier than ever, some-times working 2 jobs. Doting grandparents they are - spending lots of time with T. J. and Jordyn. Roger is recuperating from the stroke he had in early April, which affected his right extremities with extensive rehabilitation, which will continue at least until July 1. I spent 3 weeks with him from April 20 to May 10 doing whatever I needed to help him. Shannon and Kenneth are busy, as usual, with jobs and their little family. T. J. just completed first grade and Jordyn just finished her first year in pre-school. T. J. is playing T-ball again this summer. Jordyn tried soccer but didn't really want to play. She is barely 4 years old - a little young to participate in sports. Love to all. Richard’s FamilyThe past several months have been quite eventful for us. In April, Cecil had a mild heart attack, followed by angioplasty with 2 long stints placed. He recovered well from that. On May 12, Cecil and I flew to Oklahoma. The next day I flew back to Greenville with Mom and drove her to her new home. She is living with Sharon in Easley. Here’s their address and phone number. 109 Tortuga Lane Cecil and Mom’s friend David drove a rental truck with her car towed behind. These trips went well but Cecil and I didn’t make it back to our house intact. We crashed head on into a culvert about one mile from our house. He has bruised knees and I have a broken left foot along with airbag impact soreness and seatbelt bruises. The car was totaled, but we now have a 2002 Honda Accord to replace it. We’re grateful to the Lord that our injuries weren’t worse. Mom is adjusting well. We surprised her with a mosaic birdbath and bench. She and Sharon took Jason and Jeremy some furniture and household items in early June. Jeremy has bought a house. Jason is living with him and sharing expenses. They are both working at a Home Depot in Cameron, MO but different shifts. Jason works days filling customer orders. Jeremy works nights stocking shelves. We hear the boys plan to decorate their house in hunter camouflage! Bill recently spent a week at Myrtle Beach with a group of people. He had lots of fun. Sharon and Mom are planning on what colors to paint their walls. They find the builder’s off white too boring. They recently planted a small garden of squash, tomato, peppers, okra, and watermelon. Now, if they can just keep Sharon’s cat away from them. He has mastered use of the pet door and occasionally brings a new friend into the house. So far, there’s been a cat, 3 small lizards, a bird and most recently a tiny chipmunk, who tried to hide under Mom’s organ. That cat is very quiet, but quite adventurous. We’ve had enough adventures in our family for a while and are ready for a pleasant summer. We wish the same for all of you. Jeanne Hart Garland's Familyno news at this time Ed's FamilyWell, Scout is home now. She got to come home from the hospital with oxygen and monitors, but she is doing well. She now weighs 5 pounds 14 ounces and is eighteen inches tall. Connor has taken up Tae Qwon Do and just tested and received his yellow belt. He is very excited about that and being a big brother. Other than that, not much is going on in Fairview. I will return to the classroom in the fall; I must to pay for Scout's and my doctor bills. We are not sure as to who is going to watch her as of yet, but we are praying that a loving caregiver will emerge before I have to report back. Stephanie Dale's FamilyGod Bless Joe! Hi Everyone! I thought it was so nice that Joe would give me a call tonight. I just couldn't be more blessed. Been on vacation seen some family and friends and now a call from Joe, wow! He let me know tomorrow is the first day of summer - and I hadn't sent anything in for the newsletter. Oh my - why does the 26th of the month stick with me? I am making progress however; I have associated the newsletter months with payroll deadline months to keep me on track. I just can't get past the 26th and why that sticks in my mind. I just need to highlight my bill calendar on my home desk I reckon. I do apologize to Joe as he had to make the call to me, but I do love hearing from him as I do you all. In any case, my family is great and busy-busy-busy. My immediate family is where I will start this letter as we have just returned from vacation. I finally submitted to flying to Texas this year and renting a car. A very wise decision; we usually lose vacation due to a funeral, but Ron's employer realized we have had a death in our family if not two each year since we have moved here. This year they gave him leave for the funeral of my grandma Dixon, thus allowing him his first vacation since 1996! We flew into Dallas, met one of my high school classmates for supper, spent the night in Tyler with Neil and attended church with him on Sunday morning. Arrived in Orange, TX that evening to spend the night with friends who have kids our kid’s age (they are all 3 married and have 5 kids between them). Got up the next morning to drive to Morgan City, LA to visit Ron's sister and Bro in law. Left the next morning, Tues for Baytown, TX to meet with my Daddy, Frances, Mom, Bruce, and Robbie. Wed 5AM we dropped Neil off at Houston airport for a Mission trip he makes to Siberia (Far Northeast Russia). They are very hospitable people and really precious people. Then off for the Texas panhandle. We make a stop about 6:30pm in Clarendon to visit Bro. and Mrs. Hill. The pastor I had as a teenager and the pastor who performed Ron and My wedding ceremony. Oddly enough, Cheri’ and their younger son, Darrell have become real friends since Nov. 2004. Thurs we got into Amarillo about 11:30AM. Ron's brother, Mark is the sports guy for KGNC and works night, he had had a few hours sleep before we crashed in on his day, he made all the usual calls for us to let the other family know we had arrived. They all come at various times of the day depending on their work schedules; by 7 pm we decided to see a couple we were very close to and classmates to Ron in school. We hadn't been there but about 30 minutes when we were called that Ron's sister in law, Kay had arrived. Kay was married to his twin brother who died in 1997, so it was very important we see her. She is patient with us, and we made our visit short with our friends. All our visits were much too short. We got up Friday morning, visited with Mark about another hour and headed for Dallas. Checked into a Hotel, found one last place to eat real TEX-MEX food, returned to the hotel for a good 4-5 hours sleep, returned our rental car (in those 7 days we had driven 1876.3 miles) and caught our plane home by 8am. Drove into our drive way about 5:45PM worn out, and loved every minute of it, yet, there are still people we didn't get to see. Each time I had to say good bye it got harder and harder. As did the tears to hold back. I want to be able to take the weekend and drive up to see Joe and Carol Elder and hug them; or take some pictures to Louis that I have done for him, talk to my Uncle Pete about that little clock of Grandma Watts' and Tell Aunt Elmeda face to face how much I cherish the Diamond Quilted dishes from her and Uncle Warren, have that talk with Jessie... I want to stop every time in Childress and visit with Bill and Mary Watts... None of you are taken for granted. If only I could talk to you all - just know that I Love you and Hold you All very dear to hear and soul. Well--- on with the show--- Daddy and Frances well--- Frances is in a second back brace. She says this one is at least more comfortable than the first and not as bulky. Daddy says he's fine, the Timex story still works for him just like it does for Bruce. They both look good. I think Daddy likes where he lives in Hardin. I look forward to having more than a few hours in any one spot so we can at least see the place some time! Robbie, Bruce and family are doing well also. Robbie just traded that sporty little car of hers in for a truck! Can you imagine! Now between her, Bruce and Curtis they all drive trucks, not a car on the lot. They love where they are living. Space, quiet, they aren't driving as far to work, it works well for all of them. Curtis still enjoys being a night stockman at Wal-Mart, out of most of the crowds from the day, too bad a bank can't work that way, I'd probably sign up! Bruce is finishing up a Safety Manual for his employer and Robbie has transferred back to her previous store. Kay and the 2 boys are doing well. Loretta and the girls decided not to go on to Hawaii. Heather is attending Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA this fall. Loretta came to see the lay of the land to get a better feeling about leaving her here while the rest of them went to Hawaii. Well, Robert wasn't going by himself, so they now live just outside Lynchburg in a town called Bedford. Fancy that!! Gailia is doing well also; she had been working for a bridal store, doing fittings and alterations... Whitney Marie is selling Mary Kay between being High School student, I am sure Amber is Amber, not quite sure what the scoop is on her nor Brandt other than trying to be a Pastor for a Baptist church and that is quite a chore I am sure. (I am Baptist is why I feel I can comment) Then Nathen was taking some college courses requested by the Navy to become a Seal. His test scores were so high, the Army approached him with a deal to pay all his college provided he keep his grades up, and he not have to work, then serve 4 more years in the military trained in special forces. He took them up on the offer. It helps them out in several different areas and accomplishes his goals. I believe Justyn is still in California and has the opportunity to work out of the country on those tall radio tower things he works on. I'll try to remember better next time we write the letter for you. I apologize, I should have written it down. I guess that has it covered about as well as I know for now. I look forward to hearing how the rest of you are doing. Until the next letter, be careful and again - I love you all. Karen Elmeda's FamilyDear All, We have an enjoyable past few months. Rachel finished the eleventh grade. Cross-country and track were her letter sports this past year, she was also on the bowling team. She went to state finals in track. Her summer job is a kitchen helper at a summer camp; she says that it really sucks and that she would rather push a lawn mower. John is waiting until he gets out of the Marines in January. He is assigned as one of the guards for the base and he doesn’t think that he will be assigned anywhere else before he gets out. He is working during his day off at a horse ranch, and seems to enjoy shoveling out the stalls (his Marine job must be really bad if he thinks using a shovel is good). Carol and I are just trying to ride herd on both grandmas and an elderly aunt. It seems that someone always has a doctor’s appointment or needs something. Since neither of the kids are here this summer, maybe I can get Jessie to help me mow the yards. Right now I am taking care of four. We made it to California the last of May to see John. We saw many things on the way and coming back. We saw the George Patton Museum in California. We got off the I-10 and on to the back road and saw some beautiful mountains and hair pin curves. We saw Mission San Juan Capistrano which is beautiful, Hollywood, the mile of stars in the sidewalk, Mann Chinese Theater, Kodak Theater and rode a bus to see the stars homes. In front of the 2 theaters are every character in movies dress up and you can get your picture taken with them. We did agree Hollywood is overrated. On the way back home we saw the Indian cliff dwellings at Prescott, Arizona. It is nice to go but always nice to come back. John is station at Camp Pendleton as guard. In his off time he works at a horse ranch. He has been to Iraq twice and we are glad he is back in the states. Bill & Mary WattsHappy Summer Days!!! This has been a busy year and we have failed to get a letter in to you in quite some time, however we have enjoyed hearing from everyone else. These news letters are great to keep everyone informed, and Carol and Joe have done a great job. Mary Lou Watts came from California for a visit to Lubbock and Amarillo so several of the immediate cousins were entertained by Kent and Elaine Peeples in Canyon for a very enjoyable dinner and afternoon. C. L. Watts, wife Tommie lost her father (age 97) in May. Bill and I attended the funeral. We have traveled a little this spring to Hobbs, N M to visit with friends, to Dallas for a Great Grandson's birthday party. We went to Pueblo in May to see our Grandson, Justin win a Gold metal at State Track Meet for the 4X8 and a Bronze metal in the 800 meter. We are going to go to Durango, Colorado the end of this month to meet with my brother and sister to plan our family reunion for next year in July. We have arranged for the Reunion Room at Fair Park in Childress for next year. The Cousins Reunion will be changed to Saturday per vote of the crowd at the last meeting, so the date is the first Saturday in June, 2006. Be sure and put this on your calendar for next year.
