Third Meeting (August 29th 2001)

The meeting was held at House 154, Road 43,Victoria Garden City, Lekki, home of Simisola Sanni. ATTENDANCE:Simisola Sanni, Sindaba Poloma, Ayotunde Oyewole, Kemi Davies, Salewa Alfonso, Kemi Finnih, Toyin Kekere-ekun, Busola Adetula, Stella Duru, Funmi Soyinka, Soye Briggs, Chienye Ogwo, Laide Ogunade, Toju Omatsola and Sola Kotun. The meeting began at 4.10pm.

Matters Arising:

A. December Reunion- Kemi Finnih had been assigned at the Reunion Committee meeting to check with an ex-QC girl now a radio d.j. if she could assist us with the radio jingle to advertise the event. She however said she was a Xtian d.j. and was unsuitable for such a multireligious gathering which was not even going to be a religious gathering.she said she knew nothing about their commercial rates and if we wanted her to be m.c. we would have to drop N50,000.00 On Unity Hall which we'd shortlisted as a possible venue for the event, Kemi reported that it was not available for our chosen date. There were no other reports and they proved not to be necessary anymore as after much discussion it was agreed that Simisola and Sola Kotun would between the two of them check with the management of Tiberios, Incognito and Atlantic Bar to find ou how much we would have to pay to have use of the place for a few hours during which it would be QC hosting and then later the doors would be thrown open to the general pubic for an out and out party. It is only after we get reports on these costings that we would finally decide on what mode our shindig of 30th December will take.

B-Accounts: Toyin Keks promised to get more serious on the issue of opening an account for the association.

C-Constitution:Salewa Alfonso also promised to get more serious with the Constitution of the association.

D-ExCo:The post of Welfare Secretary was handed over to KemiDavies who would double as Chief Whip also. She is to be assisted by Sola Kotun.

E-Website: We would have discussed this but Kemisola Yusuf is not here with the necessary info.

SMALL POINTS-

1. Project Impact QC-This is my own heading for the hour long discussion that took place on different ways by which we could make a positive impact on the lives of girls over there at QC. There were several suggestions- having career talks with them to steer them on the right course, talks to guide them morally ( in a Big Sister-like forum), getting them interested in creative stuff, taking them out on fieldtrips and generally doing things with them etc.It was decided that a talk with Mrs. Nwagbara,in the Guardince and Counselling Unit, and Mrs Euler-Ajayi the PQC would be meaningful.

2. Contact-It was decided that efforts should be made to reach those of us whose names are not on the mailing list, personally.

3. Simisola showed us a sample of Feyi Folowosele's wedding colour but confessed that she had not gone very far with the arrangements for hat or aso-oke. ii, Soye showed a sample of Funmi Soyinka's hat colour which will go for N4,500.00 each. Reach her if you're interested. NEXT MEETING is on August 26th 2001 at the residence of Sola Kotun. Address and description shortly.

Fifth Meeting (October 28th 2001)

Hi girls,

As I notified earlier in the month, yesterday, 28th October, was Funmi Soyinka's bridal shower. It happened to coincide with the date of our monthly meetings and so we decided to merge both. It took place at Alfa Beach on Lekki Expressway. By the turnout, (actually the members present were Kemi Finnih, Ayo Oyewole, Kemi Davies, Salewa Alfonso,Soye Briggs, Stella Duru, Laide Ogunade, Chienye Ogwo , Toju Omatsola and of course, Funmi Soyinka) particularly of strange faces, I would like to suggest that all meetings be termed bridal showers if only to get those people who showed up yesterday to come over again. Busola Adenubi, Tolani Aderiye, Oyinlola Arole, Karimat Dawodu,  Chioma Elechi, Yinka Fadamiro, Obianuju Nwagbogu and Bisi Fashesin-Souza are the objets of my discourse! We were pleasantly surprised to see them and seize this opportunity to welcome them and enjoin them to pay their monthly dues (N500 for each of the past 5 months, totaling N2,500)and DEcember Reunion dues (N3,0000). This request also goes to those of you, wherever, who have not paid your dues. Over the course of the next 3 weeks, I shall send round names of those who have paid and also names and nos. of people who can come round to collect this money or to whom this money can be sent. Note that this Reunion is fast approaching and we need to set the machinery in motion. The date and venue remain unchanged - Kemi Finnih's residence on 23rd December. As you might have observed, we did not have a meeting as such, this is just a newsletter keeping you all abreast of the state of affairs and informing everyone of yesterday's event. Tentatively, the next meeting will be held at the residence of  Kemisola Yusuf (address to be forwarded soon) on 25th November.

Sixth Meeting (November 26th 2001)

Hi ladies,

Sorry this is coming so long after the event but I wanted to consult with Kemi Finnih before sending this out since we did not exactly have a meeting on the 25th November, 2001. In attendance at the bridal shower which was held at Chicken Licken, Warehouse Road, Apapa, were the following QCOGs -

  • Toju Omatsola (of course)

  • Funmi Abioye (Soyinka)

  • Salewa Alfonso

  • Soye Briggs

  • Stella Duru

  • Sola Kotun

  • Kemi Finnih

  • Kemi Davies

  • Toyin Kekere-Ekun

  • Busola Adenubi

  • Chienye Ogwo

  • Bobe Odunsi

  • Laide Ogunade

  • Toke Oke

  • Bodunrin Oyedele

  • Kemi Shabiolegbe

Now these last three people are making an appearance for the first time and I would like to use this medium to welcome them and request that they not make it a one-time affair. The shower went quite well although there were quite a few earthshattering disclosures as well as some tearshedding. We all wish Tojuju and Ninah a blessed marriage. Now with regards QC and the meeting we ought to have had, it really did not hold. The issue which was up for discussion was whether or not the December Reunion would hold and where. By the records of the tReasure, Toyin Kekere-Ekun, only 7 people had paid their N3000 levy, with none of these being any one who is currently abroad. In fact we have heard nothing from any of you over there in quite a bit (to be specific, since we brought up the levies and monthly dues topic!). Morayo Dawodu and Kemi Ogunleye, what is happening with you guys now?

Well Kemi Finnih and I had a conversation last night and it was immediately clear that the levy from 7 people would not suffice to host everyone who might want to come for the Reunion. Thus we worked out a different idea. We decided that it would be a freer and fairer event for everyone to hook up at some joint, say Cactus on Ozumba Mbadiwe on an agreed date, say the 23rd or therabouts according to general approval and everyone's say so. If any one finds this idea to be good, then please mail me and let me know.  Of course if you do not agree, you are free to mail me as well.

Here is wishing everyone a  Happy Eid-el-Fitri, a Merry Christmas and a joyous, successful and blessed New Year.
