SRA Mobile Suit RMS-007G
Juragg "Polar Bear"
1/144 Scale Bandai Limited Grade
The Polar Bear mobile suit from Gundam X. In traditional Gundam X fashion, the Juragg is a parallel to another suit in the Gundam saga, the Gouf. Both are evolutionary steps from their predecessors specially designed for ground combat. Even their model numbers are nearly the same.
What makes the Juragg stand out is its odd means of locomotion: a jet-powered snowboard. The only Juraggs shown in Gundam X are based at snowy Fort Severn, and as a result are winterized. It was the image of a mobile suit flying down a mountain on a snowboard that pretty much cemented me doing this conversion.
The base of this suit is another SRA MS, the Jenice. This is a Limited Model release from Bandai, and as such it was very under-jointed and came in one shade of apple green. Joints were added or replaced at the waist, ankles, shoulders, hips, and skirts. The shoulder pads, beam machine gun, and backpack were scratch built. There was also quite a bit of re-proportioning at the arms, waist, and head.
Note: This was actually my first Gundam model. I had a few of the action figures when I got this, but hadn't seen any models around. I saw this on sale at a local EB (I think), and picked it up. I wasn't exactly impressed with the construction of the thing, but I thought it had good lines and details. I assembled it, and painted it blue, and stood it with my action figures. Only later, after I had discovered the Mecha Domain and fansubbed Gundam X did I get the bug to make it a Juragg, also marking it as my first heavily modified kit. A personal favorite of mine, for a few reasons :)
