CHOLECYSTITIS
(Massage Therapy)



GENERAL EXPLANATION:

Cholecystitis is an inflammatory cholecystopathy caused by bacterium or chemical stimulation (change of component in the bile). Cholelithiasis exists simultaneously in 65-70% of the cases. Acute Cholecystitis occurs suddenly, with abdominal pain in the right upper abdomen, nausea and warm sensation in the body. Chronic cholecystitis prevents itself as lingering indigestion, insidious pain in the right upper abdomen, and dislike the oily food. An acute attacks the symptoms are similar to those in acute cholecystitis-paroxysmal colic in the right upper abdomen. Massage therapy con relieve spasm, stop pain, and soothe the liver and gallbladder.

NOTES:

1. It is advisable to eat properly, avoid over-eating and over-drinking, and avoid high-fat and high-cholesterol foods.
2. It is advisable to maintain regularity of the bowls in order to maintain the normal physiological functions of the stomach and intestines.

TREATMENT:

1. Press Geshu(BL-17), Ganshu(BL-18), Danshu(BL-19) and the tenderness on the right side of the back with the bent finger and strong stimulation for 2 to 3 minutes each.

2. Press Yanglingquan(GB-34) and Dannang(EX-LE6) with strong stimulation for 1 or 2 minutes respectively.

3. Knead the right upper abdomen and the area below the xyphoid process with the finger in a circular motion for 2 to 3 minutes. Then, knead the hypochondrium on the bilateral sides with the palm for 2 to 3 minutes each.

4. Knead Zhangmen(LR-13) and Qimen(LR-14) with the finger for 1 to 2 minutes each.

5. Push and chafe the back along the bilateral Bladder Meridian of Foot-Taiyang downwards until a warm sensation is felt. Push and chafe the bilateral hypochondrium until a warm sensation is felt.

6. Press Taiyang(EX-HN5) bilaterally with the thumbs of two hands for 30 times.
