I have achieved everything I wanted since becoming a member of the Transgender Community. I am neither happier nor sadder than before.

It may astound you that I make that comment, but apart from being retired, my days have not really altered. Sure I don’t have to earn a living, just live on investment income from pensions, and watch my investments go South due to the state of the share markets Worldwide.

My days now consist of running my home---I have no partner---caring for my Dog, garden, cleaning, washing and ironing, which I hate, so try to buy as many items that don’t need to be ironed. Of course, shopping and cooking are essential and I love to cook---Roasts, cakes and the more mundane items, but then I have always enjoyed this.

Income rather blunts my more adventurous wants, such as trips abroad or within Australia, but then I manage a couple of visits a year. To compensate for my lack of travel, I have friends who stay with me from time to time and of course my work with Agender Australia and Changeling Aspects, my support group.

I find it deeply satisfying when asked to visit someone either at home or in Hospital after their Operation. Usually to swap experiences, but also to help them if feeling down. The outcome of these visits is usually another friend to keep in touch with.

Recently I have been asked to give speeches to my Church and Rotary Club, plus interviews on ABC Radio. This has opened up new horizons for me. In doing these speeches and interviews I hope that I am spreading the word to the wider community.

Also the Wednesday evening meetings when possible to meet with friends for a meal, and the monthly Agender and Seahorse meetings are essential to keep in touch.

I receive E-mails from all over and this keeps me in touch with what is happening in other States and Countries. Of course it would be nice to be able to visit when asked, but as stated, one has to watch the pennies.

This year I have arranged to go to Sydney to see Family and friends, NZ for the Agender Convention and I hope Sydney for the Seahorse Ball, great fun.

On reflection, I would say that my life is full from meeting some wonderful gutsy people and enjoying what I do. This I hope will continue for as long as my health allows me to do so.

When I have to stop, then I hope that people will think kindly enough of me to come visit me.

I would dearly love to go to Canada, UK, and Sweden to visit friends and Family before I am too old or too short of money. Perhaps my last dream will come true, that my Birth Certificate will reflect my new status that really would be the icing on the cake!

I have learnt that all things come in time, and asking for help and support is no bad deal either.

To all of my friends and acquaintances in the Transgender Community, I say thank you and bless you and may you be as lucky and happy in your new life as I am.
