The Changeling

To enter the world of the changeling is an extraordinary thing to do,

It takes a very special kind of person; it’s not any easy thing to do.

You must plan it all out extremely thoroughly if it’s what you wish to do,

And on top of everything else remember; “To thine own self be true”

Now if you’ve got this far already then you have made a start,

Are you prepared to consider it both in your mind and heart?

For once you’ve started down along this path there is no turning back,

And even if you’d like to proceed it will cost you a pretty whack.

Have you thought it through so thoroughly that you really must go through?

Are the alternative ways of living not entirely good enough for you?

Can you put up with all the trauma, can you put up with all the pain?

Are you prepared to risk losing friends and family to stake your claim for fame?

If you have answered all these questions with a resounding yes,

And are prepared to go right on, risk causing all of the distress.

Then there’s not too much more that I can say to help you understand,

Before you take the necessary steps; you should be there already in your mind.

For if you’ve already changed in your mind you have done the major thing,

Yet is there still more to work out, have you thought of everything?

Have you taken all the legal steps, have you sewn up all loose ends?

Then it’s almost time to go ahead and follow the path where it bends.

Go on my friend; take up your life as you have planned to do,

Just keep living in the present until your dreams come true.
