Tribute to Seahorse

Seahorse has a hard core of members’ who would not a meeting miss,

Others try to get there when they are able to experience a night of bliss.

It’s not an easy decision to make when you decide it’s time to come out,

The whole world seems to be against you when you want to sing & shout.

But that feeling is your true self; the one that’s hidden deep within,

And to make the big decision to come out is certainly not a whim.

For when you look in the mirror and see at last your real true self,

It’s time to take the plunge my dear; you must do it for yourself.

My thanks are due to Brenda, who answered my queries on the net,

And then she took me shopping; something that I don’t regret.

I went to that Seahorse meeting and found that I was not alone,

There were others who were still trying to raise Seahorse on the phone.

Some of them have never made it and in the closet they remain,

For it takes certain courage & you’ll have to take all the blame.

For stating to your partner what it is that you wish to go about,

And coping with the backlash while trying hard not to shout.

So when you make the breakthrough you tread rather cautiously,

For you’ve at last found freedom and that’s where you’d rather be.

Until the world opens wider and you then find the need to explore,

The Internet holds many answers; you may find what you’re looking for.

Now I’ve found new horizons where my skills are needed more,

To help the wider family is something that I choose not to ignore.

Because of my restrictions and the need to keep relationships intact,

I’ve come to the end of the present road and wish to resign with tact.

To those of you at Seahorse who have helped the last two years,

I’m a much happier girl now for I’ve conquered most of my fears,

I can’t see me giving up my cross-dressing it’s very much a part of me,

But I’ve other interests and duties to perform; they take my time that’s free.

If I’m no longer a member I shall not forget the start,

The Seahorse members gave to me; some really played their part.

In helping me find my sea-legs and to try and play the part,

That Mother Nature destined for me at the very start.

So when you walk down that pathway, you’ll need to understand,

That whatever happens to you is exactly as you’ve planned.

You’ll need to be content just where you are or know where you wish to be,

For it’s only when you’ve found your true self that you’ll be truly free.
