CHALK [Sept 2001 Issue]

Q: How long have you been in showbusiness?
A: Nearly four years./ I started when I was 12. I've always wanted to be an actor.

A: I think I got P30,000. I was 12 then. I bought clothes!

Q: What products have you endorsed so far?
A: I've endorsed Platinum, 7-Up -- the devil-angel situation -- and Rexona. Now I'm doing Penshoppe. My contract runs for two years, I think.

Q: What do you find attractive in a girl?

Q: Who's your biggest crush?
A: KC Conception. I haven't met her personally, but I find her really pretty.

Q: Are you attached? Do you go on dates?

A: I sleep! I find time for my friends and family. I'm a homebody.

Fill In the Blanks...

What I love most about showbiz is the craft of acting itself.

What I hate most about showbiz is that it changes a lot of things. You need to mature early and loose your childhood.

My dreamrole is to be the antagonist or play gay roles.

I'm passionate about cars.

My greatest extravagance is shoes and watches.

The cheesiest thing I did for my crush / girlfriend was I wrote her a love letter which I would otherwise die doing.

You would see posters of Michael Jackson in my room.

I idolize Nicolas Cage.

I wouldn't be caught dead wearing a really short '80s style basketball shorts.

Candy Cover
[+Candy+Sept 2001 Issue]

This boy knows how to turn on the charm. This isn't something you find out right away though. When asked what people don't know about him, he says, "I'm makulit! But people don't know that. When they first meet me, they think I'm a serious guy. But the minute you get to know me, doon lang ako nangungulit.

This boy is gutsy. In PE class. Cogie's teacher was giving instructions on how to jump into a swimming pool from the first story of a building. His classmates decided it was a good time for him to accept a dare. "So my teacher told us what we needed to know about jumping from the first story, I took my teacher's dare, went to the third -- and jumped." We assume he got out of it alive -- and intact, thank God!

This boy is just like any other boy. It's such a guy thing to be obsessed with Batman and his car ("Ang ganda ng kotse ni Batman! He's my favorite comic book character. I love how his car glides and almost flies!"), basketball, ("I really love shooting the ball and it's great when I play with my friends and we're all having fun together in the court."), billiards, ("I could play the whole day. In fact, I play everyday with my amigos.") and Candy's August guest editor KC Conception ("She's my crush 'cause she's so simple. I'd love to play billiards with her!"). And just like any other boy, Cogie admits that first dates makes him nervous -- and that his favorite color is blue.

This boy just wants to make girls happy. "If I had one super power, it would be to read girls' minds just like in the movie What Women Want with Mel Gibson. I also want to know what they want want so that I could give it or do it to make them smile, I'll do anything to win a girl's heart!"

But the best reason why Cogie's already won our hearts? This boy knows how to love. "Todo akong magmahal." Though there isn't a girl we can ask to confirm this, we're sure that his family and friends will definitely agree.

One-on-one
[+Candy+ Feb 2001 Issue]

*If you wer given a chance to play one-on-one with someone, who would it be?
Kobe Bryant 'cause he's my favorite basketball player. He's my idol.

*If you could be any character, who would you want to be and why?
Batman. He's always been my favorite! I like the fact that he drives a fast car which glides on water and does other cool things.

*If you were a girl for a day, what are the five things you'd want to do?
I'd try out stuff girls normally do like shop the whole day, buy girl clothes, have my hair fixed, and get a manicure. As a girl, I'll also observe the different ways guys would approach me then copy the same "style" I like when I'm a guy again.

*Do you sing in the shower?
Yes! But I don't sing a particular song. I have a radio in the bathroom and I end up singing whatever is playing at that time.

*Beauty or brains? Would you go out for a girl who's super pretty but not smart, or a smart girl who's not physically pretty.
Brains. In the end, I go for the personality and not the looks.

*What are your top three movies of all time? Any movie that made you cry?
Nicolas Cage is in all of my favorite movies. I really liked Gone in Sixty Seconds, Face Off, and City of Angels. I don't think I ever cried in a movie theater. It's embarrassing, especially when you're watching with your friends and anyone can see you.

*What's your worst trait?
Mabilis uminit ang ulo ko.

*What makes you upset?

When someone disrespects me in any way. For example, when I attend a premiere night and someone shouts bad stuff at me, that's ok. But I won't allow someone to do that when I'm on a gimmick with friends. I won't let that moment slip by easily. Because if I do, it will build up into something igger. I'll just talk lang naman to the guy who disrespected me and say,"What's your number, can I call you?" (laughs)
