Bonjour !

Le 18 janvier, près de 100 000 personnes ont manifesté contre la guerre en Irak dans une cinquantaine de villes canadiennes. Aux États-Unis, plusieurs centaines de milliers de personnes. Mais, même s'il y a eu des manifestations ailleurs dans le monde, le 18 janvier n'était pas prévu comme un temps fort de la mobilisation contre la guerre dans la plupart des autres pays...

La première véritable mobilisation concertée contre la guerre en Irak au niveau international aura lieu samedi le 15 février. En fait, ce pourrait bien être la plus importante journée de protestation de l'Histoire mondiale !

En Europe, le mot d'ordre a été lancé en novembre dernier par le Forum social européen:

dans le cadre d'une manifestation qui a réuni près d'un million de personnes à Florence ! Aux États-Unis, l'appel a été lancé par la coalition United for Peace and Justice : http://unitedforpeace.org/article.php?id=725 où vous pouvez voir une liste partielle des villes où des manifestations sont prévues sur tous les continents. Entres autres, une énorme manifestation est prévue à New York. La coalition ANSWER, qui coordonnait les manifestations du 18 janvier aux États-Unis, appelle également à manifester ce jour-là. Au Canada, des manifestations sont déjà prévues à Halifax, Québec, Montréal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton et Vancouver et la liste grandira dans les prochains jours!

À Montréal, la manifestation est organisée par le Collectif Échec à la guerre. Elle partira à 13h00 du Carré Dominion (Square Dorchester), intersection Peel / René Lévesque. Even if there were also protests elsewhere around the world, January 18 was not planned as a strong moment for anti-war mobilisation in most countries. The first truly coordinated mobilisation against the war against Iraq at the international level will take place Saturday 15 February. Actually, it could very well turn out to be the most important day of protest in World History ! Among others, a huge demonstration is planned in New York City. The ANSWER coalition, which coordinated the protests on 18 January in the US, is also calling to demonstrate on that day.
