Windows CE Services must be operational on your Windows 95/NT system.

Open the appropriate folder then double-click
on the InstallCE icon to start the install process for the correct device.

Note:
After unzipping the file there should be a directory (Folder) on your PC called
"vxUtil".
This directory contains the files that will be downloaded to the HPC or PPC.
If you receive an error when attempting to install
vxUtil it may mean that the directory was not created or the long file names were not
created properly.

If you receive an "CeAppMgr.exe not found" error and you are running Win CE 2.0, you
can copy the appropriate CAB file to the device and then double-tap on the file
to install the software. (May be a problem on Palm-size PC's).

It is recomended that you use the program "WinZip (32-bit version)" to unzip "vxUtil.zip" and set
options to expand sub-folders and create long file names.

the compile functionality will be disabled after 45 days. Unregistered applications will have certain
restrictions.

Documentation on PocketC can be obtained from the official site. On-line
documentation is included in the CE editor program.
You can also download samples & full programs from various developers many of whom
have sites linked from both TM and the Orbworks site.

The V2 preferences screen
(help/preferences) allows the
user to move the help file to any
location including a storage card
which enables the main memory
to be kept for things you need
access to all the time.

Note that PocketC V2 can be installed on a storage card to save main memory. I have
tested this feature myself on my 16Mb flash card and can confirm that the software
works correctly. Just say no when asked to install to the default location & change the
location from main memory to storage card.

If you are going to develop software for the 3Com Palm devices you really should register
as a Palm Solution Provider. You will then have access to lots of goodies from 3Com to
help you develop your code. The single most important reason to register with 3Com is
that you can legally obtain a Palm rom image to use with the PC-based Palm emulator.

Microsoft have full explanations of all windows controls used in PocketC. A search on the
Microsoft site against any function or parameter will, in most cases, reveal all you need to
know about the use of the function and the various parameters & messages used to
control the windows item.

There is a very good bReady Book viewer version of the Windows CE docs.

out of date they are still valuable & contain 95% of current functionality ) The bReady viewer
