CHAPTER FIFTEEN

“Renaud,” Karl roared, “come in here now!”

“Yes sir,” Renaud said a bit startled by his tone.

“Close the door behind you.” Karl said. “We need to watch them, where they go, who they see.

Renaud frowned. “The women? Why?”

“Do you forget who Richelleen is married to my dear Renaud?”

“No, but why does it matter?”

Karl snorted. “I know you hold the law in contempt Renaud but never underestimate Javert…he may have a few years on him but he’s sharp and quick. He, could and most importantly, would throw us in jail and toss away the key.”

“I think you overestimate him Karl but I’ll put a couple of my best men in place.”

He bowed. “Till later then…”
