Personality: Duo is known as the happy-go-lucky member of the Gundam pilots, with his crazy and chaotic personality, all the girls are chasing after him. He has a great sense of humor and is always joking around. Duo seems to especially annoy Heero a lot. He is not very "grown up" compared to the other pilots, but he sure cheers up the whole team! Unlike the other pilots, he may not seem to be taking his missions seriously enough, but once he gets behind that cockpit of his Gundam, he is known as the God of Death, or The Great Destroyer.
Duo has a best friend called Solo, he died from a disease because he was too poor to afford doctors to cure him. Duo tried to steal the antidote from the lab, but it was too late when he came back. Solo said that Duo and him will always be together. Poor young Duo suffered from pain and grief, therefore he named himself "Duo" so that Solo will always be by his side.
One time, Maxwell Church was attacked under OZ. Duo went off trying to steal a mobile suit, but when he came back, everything was destroyed. Seeing Sister Helen and Father Maxwell dying, poor Duo had suffered again as this was known as the Maxwell Church Massacre. Ever since that day, Duo swore that he'll destroy OZ...

Past: Despite Duo's troublesome adventures, he laughs them all off. He grew up in the streets with a bunch of orphans surviving by stealing. They were once all caught, and was taken to the church known as Maxwell Church. Duo met Sister Helen and Father Maxwell in the church. With Duo's long hair, Helen tried to cut it off, but Duo refused. In that case, the only way was to braid it, so Sister Helen gave Duo his trade mark hair since then.
