Computer Art "Illustrator" Assignment

Ahhh, for the love of following directions...
This is a conversion of an actual photograph of a small red sunflower my brother grew in our front yard. We were supposed to import a scan of a photograph into Illustrator in some format that I can't seem to think of the name of. I never heard her say that. As a result, the file I was working on took up over 50 megs of disk space, when the actual size had I done it the *easy* way would have been 100 times smaller.
Anyway, I took that scan and painstakingly traced all of the details in the sunflower that were to be in the final picture. Coloring the leaves waasn't so bad, but the flower petals were one giant S.O.B. The gradient tool was quite irritating to set up, and I had to hand-rotate the thing so they would all line up nice along the length of each petal. Egads. Despite this, the final result is quite pleasing. Me gusto.
