JULIO PONCE PALMIERI A multiple award winning writer and filmmaker, Julio's latest accolades come in the form of the "FILMMAKER ON THE RISE AWARD" and "BEST SCREENPLAY" at the 2007 Queens International Film Festival. After his huge success at the festival, Julio has become a member of Advisory Board where he will be representing Canada. An accomplished screenwriter, Julio has had multiple "writer-for-hire" contracts, leading to numerous major projects in development, including two dramatic epic stories, (SIMON BOLIVAR:LIBERATOR and MARCO POLO AND THE COURT OF KUBLAI KHAN), co-written with TJ Mancini ( writer/producer of Vin Diesel's FIND ME GUILTY) and the classic story THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME (co-written with Max Ryan), which is now in pre-production in Poland. Julio is the producer, writer and director of three feature films titled "SMOKED", "GAME OVER" and "PERSPECTIVE". These projects have enjoyed much recognition and have played in North American film festivals such as the NYIIFVF New York, Queens International Film Festival and also NYIFFVF Los Angeles. Among his other projects, "IT!" an exciting action short film became the Official Selection of the 2007 Queens Int. Film Festival, the 2007 Boston Latino Int. Film Fest and the 2007 AOF Film Fest (also nominated for an award). In addition, "MASTER PLAN", a dramatic spiritual short film was the Official Selection at the 2007 Platforma Video Festival in Greece, the 2007 Queens Int. Film Festival (also nominated for Best Foreign Short), the 2007 NY Short Film Festival and the 2005 NYIFFVF New York. In 2004, "RIDING WITH JACK", a short film comedy written by Julio, screened in the Palm Beach Film Fest, the Int. Fest of Cinema and Worldfest Houston Film Fest, where it won a Gold Award for Best Original Comedy. Furthermore, "BEGINNINGS" a short film written and produced by Julio was screened at the 2004 Queens International Film Fest, where it captured the Best International Award and has been played numerous times on cable television. In addition, in 2004, Julio traveled to Venezuela for the documentary titled "SIMON BOLIVAR: PATH TO GLORY" where he served as the screenwriter and associate producer for the project. Julio worked alongside director Kenny Golde (Darryl Hannah's THE JOB) and Sal Pacino (father of Al Pacino). Being the founder and creative director of Quetzal Productions, since 2004 Julio has produced other short films such as "THE CHASE", "BEEN A WHILE", "DEAD ALL MY LIFE", "RELEASED" and the documentary "BEGINNINGS: BEHIND THE SCENES". In the next two years, Julio will be producing four more feature films titled "ANATOMY OF A KIDNAPPING", "HOST", "RABID RAGE" and "SLEEP IS THE DEVIL". Julio recently completed two short films titled "MYTH OF THE CAVE" and "JUDGEMENT". They will be submitted to film festivals worldwide. |
